Last Post of the Year

December 14, 2016

Vacation starts next week, so I won’t even be playing, let alone posting. I know I’ve been slow on the posting this year, but I just … haven’t felt it. I’ve been playing though.

Oranis has gotten to revered with everyone except the Wardens. He’s about halfway there on them so I’ll be prioritizing their world quests. He’s also got the ability to automatically complete one world quest per day, so he’s working on the PvP World Quest achievement to get a horse. I’ve *always* wanted one of the PvP horses, but the requirements to get the vicious saddle, which require a large number of arenas or rated battlegrounds, are not worth it to me. So this is the way to get one … and of course, now I go look it up on Icy Veins and realize the ALLIANCE version is the horse, and the Horde is the wolf. Well, I’m still doing it. If I have to do it on Alliance too in order to get the horse, then I’ll just have to do it on Alliance too I guess. The kind I *really* want is the new Midnight in the new Kara … which is not going to happen until I can queue for it as a heroic. I should also probably get the old Midnight one of these days too, especially now that there’s a portal directly to Kara’s front door. I shouldn’t be putting it off.

As for Hearthstone, I like the new Jade mechanic quite a lot. I’m not that big on Reno decks so I haven’t really played the mage or warlock much. I need one more draconid operative and a potion before the priest deck is really ready to go. Aggressive decks like the pirates just annoy me, and I don’t have the cards yet to make the buff paladin or hunter decks really work. So I’ve stuck with the jades for now. I do have enough dust to craft a leg, but I am completely undecided. Here are my best options:

Malygos or Alex old school dragons that I still don’t have and could be used in a few decks. Alex right after the opponent heals up from Reno? always nice
Harrison Jones I’ve held off on him because I can always drop in an ooze. Probably worth it if I wanted extra weapon removal in a Reno deck, but otherwise .. meh
Aya Blackpaw Well I did say I like jades … but she can also be discovered through several means; Lotus Agents, Journey Below, even Raven Idol if you’re desperate and lucky.

any of several old school class legendaries that are staples. For instance, Tirion Fordring, Edwin VanCleef, Grommash Hellscream, Archmage Antonidas the downside is, they can only be used by one class. Would I love to have Tirion? Yeah! But my dust only goes so far so I can probably get more value out of something else that I will use more often.

I’m definitely leaning toward filling out my classic set because those will always be available to use in Standard. And now that I look at a card list, there are quite a few non-class legendaries that would be good to have, too. Baron Gedden, Leeroy Jenkins, Cairne Bloodhoof

That is a lot of possibilities. If I had N’Zoth, Cairne would be the obvious choice. Even without it, he’s a pretty good choice. He’s 4 attack so priests can’t straight up kill him, and a dragonfire potion still leaves Baine on the board. Hmm … I think I’m leaning that way.

Busy Busy Busy

Oh my, it’s been awhile since I last posted. It’s not that I haven’t been playing because I sure have! I just haven’t found anything new and exciting to post about, really. Other than this, which I had been dreaming of since Sunwell was current and I was a newb who’d never even raided before so had no chance in Azeroth of attaining it and its magical dream of not having to carry around ammo anymore.

Last week I was on vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I took advantage of both the WoW Anniversary and Pilgrim’s Bounty to get some leveling done and get extra bonus rep on the world quests because of the world quest weekly which is so wonderful. Juna who is pictured up there getting her now-obsolete bow was the first one I worked on. She managed to finish the world quest weekly as well and is now flush with resources and working on her campaign. Kerick also finished leveling, albeit not until Saturday or Sunday I forget which, so he didn’t try to finish the weekly, but he also got work in on his campaign. He hasn’t been to Suramar yet, Juna has. I have a more hate than love relationship with that place. Juna did find it nice and easy to get over to the eastern part of the zone though with her network of Eagle aeries. She went there to do the other Murky world quest. I didn’t even know these existed, but she’s the only one so far who’s done Murky’s quests in northern Highmountain, so they didn’t show up for Oranis. She got an achievement after finishing that third one. It’s always fun getting achievements that you don’t even expect. Then when I cleaned out her bags later I found this Mrgrglhjorn toy in there. Pets and Fun

November 10, 2016

What a great week last week to have the pet battle bonus event. I managed to pick up and level 3 of the 4 new falcosaur pets, plus some others that will make some of the world quest achievements easier. Why only 3 and not all 4?

PSA Make sure your pet journal is not capped when you go to get these. I found and fed the Orphaned Sharptalon, but my journal was maxed so he wasn’t added to it. ‘No sweat,’ I said to myself, ‘I’ll just cage some of these dups I’m sitting on and try again.’ Yes, well … because of they way they did it, where it goes right into your journal instead of into your bag, means that once it’s done, it’s done, the quest to obtain it is complete and if your journal is full you are SoL. The only way around it is to do it on another character. SO .. I guess getting another alt to 110 moves up my priority list. I have a couple at 106 so it won’t take too much, I just need time to do it.

One of my favorite world quests is the one in Highmountain where you turn into a creature and get back at the hunters. The cat is plenty fun, but my favorite is getting to be a moose and butting them into oblivion with my antlers.

Also fun was this new transformation when getting tricked at Hallow’s End. I didn’t go out of my way this year but the characters that were in Dalaran hit the one in the Legerdemain. Look out peeps, this spider’s got a gun!

Also, that Kosumuth thing is up this week. I’m still clicking orbs, and I think once I finish that I have to go kill him inside Eye of Azshara to unlock the world quest. I’m not quite sure how to accomplish that because I’ve only done dungeons through LFD. Time to do some research.

Nice People Still Exist in WoW

October 10, 2016

Ok, now that I’ve had a week to mess with them, it’s official. I love world quests. Even after finishing 20 for the weekly event, I was still doing them. Not constantly. I did some regular questing as well, and spent some time on a couple of alts, too. But whenever I’m on, I check the map. Things come and go all the time. Once when I was in my order hall I noticed that Light’s Heart had a new quest for me. I look on the map to see where it’s sending me in Val’sharah and oh, lookie there! There’s a fishing world quest right next to it that wasn’t there an hour before. And some other world quest that I didn’t care about but it was on the way and I’d have to pass through it to get where I’m going so what the heck, I’ll kill a few sprites, club a few seal droods, and get free AP.

Some of them are tougher and have elites or bosses. Those I can’t solo. But oftentimes there are other people already there and you just tag and help out. One of those last night was at this little island clear up in the northeast corner of Stormheim, Shield’s Rest. You had to kill 15 elite kvaldir. Now, I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. But I needed the flight path, plus the reward was an ilevel 830 fire relic that boosts my pyroblast damage. NEED. THAT. So I figured I’d ride out there anyway, maybe I’d get lucky eh? Well, I was almost to the FP when I spotted a guardian druid attacking a kvaldir. I stopped and helped. One down, 14 to go! He didn’t say anything so I followed him to the next one and helped kill it. After about the fourth one, I made him some conjured food and offered it to him. After the 10th, I asked how many more he needed. Five. Cool, me too! We finished the quest and he thanked me for helping. I was like, no, thank YOU for allowing me to help. He could have done the quest on his own…I couldn’t have done it without him. Sadly, I don’t remember his name, although I would recognize it if I saw him again, which is likely since he was from my server. So kudos to you, my Tauren bear friend. I hope everyone you tank for treats you as well as you treated me.
