Three More Down, Four To Go

October 6, 2014

I made an effort last night to get the rest of the Cossacks done. I did pretty good, I think, getting shots of three of the seven I am missing. I did hang out with two others but wasn’t ever lucky enough to get a screenshot before they got knocked out.

Let’s start with Prokop Shumeiko.

He’s one of the first guys I mentioned here, but it’s taken me this long to get a good shot. He only exists in the game. He carries the banner of Chernihiv (Chernigov) though, which always strikes me as funny because he’s not actually the lord of that city in the game.

Shortly after the battle I got the screenshot in, we assaulted a fortress, and he got shot down before we made it to the ladder. I amused myself by taking screenshots of him unconscious on the ground. Yeah, I’m weird, I know.

Next we have Pavlo Gomon.

I could only find one reference to him outside of Mount and Blade, and it’s just a name in a list of atamans. So it appears that he did actually exist, but we don’t know anything about him.

And, I finally got Bogun!

I believe I have mentioned before that Ivan Bohun did exist and was a close friend of Khmelnytsky. Jurko Bohun in the book and the movie is loosely based on him.

He’s better looking in the movie. Slice and Lyss came to visit me this weekend and I made them watch it. Lyss liked Skrzetuski better. I think she even liked Wolodyjowski better. No doubt those two are both awesome but … I guess I just like bad boys.

Ok, I just need Jalaliy, Sinonos, Vygovsky and Mozyra and I’ll have all of the Cossacks posted.

Juggs Deactivated

April 8, 2014

So … Iron Juggernaut. The damage on this fight on heroic is just stupid. I mean seriously stupid. Everything hits for 200-300k, and some of it is random damage that can’t be avoided. If you get hit by more than one thing at a time, you’re done for. I was one of the first to die on every. single. pull. Except this one …

To deal with the incredible amount of damage, we … gosh, I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but apparently it’s a strategy that has worked for other raids, and hey, he’s dead so … yes, we 4 healed it. I don’t think we would have gotten through it without the extra cooldowns.

In other news … they finally got me. I don’t know why I even bothered to resist, it was inevitable. After raid I always stay in vent and chat. Kash and the tanks were all playing D3 together while I did quests in the Storm Peaks on Giska. They were having so much fun! So I figured, you know, I don’t have to buy the xpac to check out the loot changes. So I logged on. The witch doctor went out and promptly died to the first pack of mobs she saw. Yeah. But I decided the barbarian deserved a chance, too, so I dusted him off as well. The first two mobs he killed dropped upgrades! He is level 35 and was actually on the final quest, so he ended up killing Diablo and getting two legendary drops. Yeah … let’s just say Van logged on to collect his treasure goblin pet before I went to bed.

I blame Lyss! She told me the Crusader is voiced by the same actor as Lor’themar. She tempted me! Evil warlock, you just can’t trust them! :p

Blame Lyss

March 3, 2014

Middle of last week, Lyss pinged me and asked if I wanted to check out The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) beta weekend with her. I sorta waffled on it before deciding that yes, I would. Now, my download speed is horrendous, so it wasn’t ready to go by Friday. We had to wait until Saturday to play. And of course I had things to take care of and couldn’t get on until mid-afternoon. But we did eventually get online. We had a good time running around, and it seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun. However … I have no intention of paying for a second sub game. So I tried not to spend too much time on it. Besides the fact that I’m not planning to get the game, it’s beta and my character will be going bye bye anyway. Since I tend to get attached, I decided to refocus my efforts to a character that IS going to be mine forever.

Remember back, gee it was a long time ago now, maybe Christmas of 2012? Lyss bought Skyrim for me. I spent a grand total of 6 hours in it before giving up and shelving it. I had troubles getting used to the combat, plus my old computer could not run it smoothly. I’d turn my character, and have to wait for the actual movement to happen on the screen. So I figured, now that I have a better rig, why not give it another try?

So yeah … I spent most of the day yesterday in Skyrim. I did well enough to buy myself a horse!

The world is so pretty when it isn’t lagged all to heck, and even more so from the back of my lovely mare Queenie. And oh yeah! Graphics set on high! It’s amazing now.

I killed a dragon and was made a Thane of Whiterun. I joined the Companions and … well, I didn’t know they were werewolves until I was pretty far into it. (These aren’t spoilers anymore considering how long Skyrim has been out, right?) I left the room and thought about it for a bit before going ahead with it. Then I decided well, I could always make another character or go back to an old save file if I really didn’t want it. So I went ahead with it. I have to admit, it was kinda cool waking up naked in the snow.

So yeah, I was level 3 when I quit playing before. Now I’m up to 7 or 8. I even bought a house before logging off last night. Yay, a place to store things! You wouldn’t BELIEVE how much that pile of books was weighing me down. I pick up every book I can out of dungeons. xD
