Dynamic Duo

March 12, 2013

Yes, it’s actually my third 90, but the first two were both paladins, so …

So … you’ve just dinged 90 and have an ilevel of 438 … what do you do next?

A. get some crafted gear/buy gear with the points you have saved up already
B. do dailies and/or finish questing in Dread Wastes for gear and points
C. run some scenarios/heroics for gear and points

Meh. I’m a blood DK, I dun need no gear! Isle of Giants here I come!

Yes .. really. I sent him straight off to farm bones. Where Van with a 490+ ilevel had to use all CD just to kill a single direhorn hatchling, Kaly was at full health when his died. Sure, it took forever, but I was never at any point in danger of dying. I think I’ll try pulling two next time just for the hell of it.

My dino project was cut short by LBR time though. Since I was already on Kaly I just took him. Even though there were only four of us, we dispatched TotC in no time and decided to hit up Naxx and AQ for pets again. I’d been looking for a weapon to match Kaly’s T10 mog for a screenshot I have planned, and C’thun was nice enough to drop this fancy axe with an eyeball in the center that actually opens and closes.

Dang, I need to level a third class for the next achievement, but I was working on another DK … bah.

Seeing Red Again

February 18, 2013

So, last night was LBR. I guess people had a lot going on this week, but as long as there is more than one person on, we can always come up with something! So I invited Kamalia and Helke into the group and we discussed where to go. With all of us saying ‘it doesn’t matter to me, whatever you want to do is fine’ I suggested AQ since the original plan was Throne of the Winds and Kam and I were already near there. All of us still needed pets from there, and Helke had a mage to swap to so we could down Viscidus, so off we went.

First pull, a red drops.

Helke and I both had it already, but Kam still needed it. Yay Kam! She has the best mount luck, seriously.

Second pull … another red drops.

Crazy, eh? Unfortunately, the luck didn’t quite transfer over to the pets, although we did get the Anubisath Idol to drop. We also cleared the whole place, including (oh geez I almost typed Anub’arak .. what’s his name again? Oh yeah, C’Thun) the final boss, without a single death. I thought that was pretty impressive. Even though it is old content, there are a good number of things in there that can often lead to losing someone… usually in C’Thun’s stomach where you can’t even mass rez them.

Stupid me forgot to line us up for a screenshot with all our red bugs. Pretend there’s one here, ok?

Next week is Alliance side on Sunday at 8pm EST, but I will not be able to attend. I’m pretty sure Healblade will be, though, and possibly JD, too! So if you have an Alliance character at least level 60 and want to have fun in some old content, come join us! (or them. heh)

Stone Guard Down

October 18, 2012

Ok, so … contrary to what I said in my last post, I did NOT go into the first official raid wearing boots from Dragon Soul.
I bought some green ones off the AH.
I didn’t wear those to the raid, though, either. lol

Not 10 minutes after I purchased and equipped them, Arv told me about the epic boots you get from a quest after killing the Sha of Anger. Well, I was looking forward to killing him anyway after hearing him yell all the freakin’ time I was in Kun-Lai, so I started to head for that zone and then Arv mentioned a group forming to kill it and I whispered the leader and bam. Moar new boots.

So, Tuesday night we wiped. And wiped. And then wiped some more. We tried two healing, then three healing. We tried swapping tanks around. Slice tried his priest, then his shaman. We were up to more than 50 total wipes by the end of the night.

Last night, same thing, but without Fayle for most of the night. Apparently, wine tasting > raiding? We made progress, and finally on one pull, we hit the enrage. Ok, if we can hit the enrage, we have the mechanics figured out. We just need to tweak a bit. Then Fayle gets home. “Tag me in,” he says. I get my core hound pup out. We’re going along, going along, going along … I’m still healing when this loot roll thing pops up on my screen and I’m like ‘oh! it’s dead’

I swapped out Stay of Execution for uh … the AoE hammer and lightning on the ground thing. I like that much better, especially now that PoTI is gone. I can toss it between me and Arv and heal both of us. Or toss it over there on the casters that are supposed to be sort of spread out but aren’t. It’s a lot of fun.

Let’s see if I can figure out who is who in this:

L to R: Wok (Moog), Salacia (Slice), Lyssianna, me, umm … ok one of the blonde belf twins is Shadeey and one is Bocat but I’m not sure which is which, Adoe is there but camouflaged, wait who is that sexy belf oh it’s Arv hah he went back to the black hair, fatty Fayle, and Zugzuug.

I joked before we started that we would kill it last night because I mogged my gear and now looked good enough for a first kill screenshot. I changed my weapon afterwards, you can see the funky pink plastic thing I was using in that shot above. I’m still not sure about what weapon to use with this, but since I am using the Umbrella, I mogged my armor to go with it.

Why yes, that IS the AQ40 tier set.

I was pretty happy to finally have a reason to use it, after I spent all that time in AQ getting it. I got the last piece I needed the last time we went there for Laid Back Raid. I’m not 100% happy with the Judgement Gauntlets with it, but the colors are right. The only thing I’m really not sure on is the weapon. But meh. It works. 🙂
