Rag Legs

February 12, 2015

I’ve mentioned before how much I love recruiting new followers from the Inn. Well, Juna seems to have the best luck. Not only did she get Soulare, but now she also has “Doc” Schweitzer. For anyone unfamiliar, Doc is a character from the comic Flintlocke’s Guide to Azeroth, penned by Dave ‘Fargo’ Kosak before he was hired by Blizzard as a quest designer. If you’ve ever done the Alliance intro to the Twilight Highlands, you have met Flintlocke. Doc is … well, not your normal priest. Juna found him sitting around the campfire by the fishing shack and just had to see what he would say if she decided to talk to him. Well … he’s just a tad bit confused, which is pretty normal for him, actually.

Obviously, he must be kept active. Too dang hilarious. I mean, he’s so dang drunk, he doesn’t even realize he’s in a HORDE garrison, talking to a TAUREN. hehe!

Arelin finished up Talador, or at least, everything he wanted to do there, and is ready to move on to the Spires of Arak. I just felt like getting a good shot of him because, well … I gotta admit, given what some of the other *cough human cough* races’ graphic updates have looked like, I want to remember how good he looks now.

What about the post title, you say? Oh. Yes. Since Van has all of his bro stones done and can’t do the Foundry until LFR opens next week, he only went into Highmaul for the two bosses that drop things he still needs, and then went to play in some old instances instead. Since he never did get Firelord, he went to Firelands heroic and cleared that place out last night, finally getting to see Ragnaros’ feet.

The place is quite easy to solo now, so I guess he’ll be going back for mounts. Or maybe I will send a caster to get the staff … or a druid to get a kitty staff and embers. Hmmm ….

Welcome, Blizzard Watch

February 4, 2015

Most of you who care already know, but the folks who formerly worked at WoW Insider have launched a replacement site at Blizzard Watch. They will be funded by contributions from their readers/supporters through Patreon. Enough people have contributed already for them to definitely be able to get the site underway with everything that they want it to have, including columns that we all loved that were cut last year when they were forced to downsize. How’s that for community?

On to my in-game activites. Juna upgraded her barn to level 3 a couple of weeks ago. Now, trapping wolves for fur was only a secondary reason for her to have a barn. The number one reason is this Glass of Warm Milk that can spawn inside of it. It took a couple of weeks for it to spawn, and then some practice with Aviana’s Feather to manage landing inside the second floor, but she did it.

Looting that gives you the cutest pet ever, the Pygmy Cow.

She really needs to have a talk with her minions about burning candles inside the barn though. Hay + fire = very bad things.

In other news, Oslee finally made his way to Draenor, and since Sanbec is arms, Oslee changed his spec to fury so he wouldn’t feel the same. I used to not like fury, but, you know, that was Wrath and a lot has changed since then. I mean, I can be fury and still charge and bladestorm now, so it’s all good. And he does look badass with two big weapons.

Fun With Followers

January 29, 2015

I know a lot of people get excited for Tuesdays because of raid resets. Me? I get excited because my Inn resets and I can recruit a new follower!

Juna recently got Soulare of Andorhal. If you do a /tired emote at him, he will /comfort you and give you something for your toybox, so if any of you are Horde and want to come meet him, hit me up.

Each of my characters has certain preferences. Sanbec seems to have a thing for Worgen ladies, like Permelia.

In addition to her, he also recruited a feral druid, Seline Keihl, and of course he has Fiona as well.

You can see my solution for the ugly new human face. Thank the Light I saved that helmet. Karius, however, has gone the opposite route … very much the opposite, exposing as much as possible.

Yeah, that’s right, the poor neglected mage who never even made max level in Pandaria is now the second Alliance character to reach Draenor … in large part because of the clothing options. What? Blame Elgar.

Can’t leave Van out, though … we need some Horde content here too. He finished up the garrison campaign this week and got Choluna.

He also finished the bro stone grind and subdued Garona, so he is all ready to move on to Blackrock Foundry when it opens.

So Long, Molten Core

January 13, 2015

So, the 10th Anniversary Event is going away today. I didn’t get everything I wanted from it, and it was a dreadfully long and painful raid for one guaranteed helm (and a mount on your first victory of course). Despite that, I consider it a successful anniversary. If they had nerfed it, it would not have conveyed the epic feeling of the original. It needed to be something that required some dedication and desire. Everyone got a Molten Corgi just for logging in. However, a bit higher drop rate on the pet and enchant would not have hurt anything. Sure, I only ran it a half dozen times or so, but figure 3 to 4 hours for each run and that turns into one full day spent in Molten Core.

Apparently last week when it was extended for an extra week, that was enough to motivate me to gear up the two alts I have at 100. Junahu was first, then Sanbec followed over the weekend. I also ran both of them through LFR Highmaul. Juna was lucky with gear drops, San only got a ring. San also spent a good part of nearly every fight watching from the floor. It’s not that I’m not used to melee considering my ‘main’ is a ret pally. I guess I just never quite realized how much I depend on sacred shield and word of glory to manage my health bar, not to mention divine protection which has a relatively short cooldown. And then there are divine shield or lay on hands in extreme cases. What does my warrior get? Die by the Sword on a long cooldown? That’s it? Really?? Oh, right, and pending victory or whatever every 30 seconds. And a healthstone.

Now that I have those two ready to lolraid, I’m not sure what I will do next. I have a project in the works on Alliance side which requires a fair bit of gold, so I’ve been playing there a lot more, so maybe it’s time to play with Kerick again. San got an upgraded quest reward in Nagrand that replaced his Garrosh heirloom, so it got passed down to Kerick. I just need a chunk of playtime long enough to get him through the jungle and get his garrison set up.
