Five Weapon Friday

September 9, 2016

Ok, this is the last of the weapons that I got LAST weekend! This weekend I will actually get to quest in the world so next week’s posts will be something different.

Aluneth

Ah, the Nexus. I do have to agree with others who said this was the hardest mage quest, but I only died on the final boss, and only once. Piece of cake compared to frost DK. Roz’s hair might be due for a recolor though, to match his return to arcane (and his transmog!).

Light’s Wrath

Oh, so once wasn’t enough, I have to save Azuregos again?? But I just DID that! Ok fine. Easier the second time through, whether from learning or class I can’t say. Disc is naturally a bit slower than arcane, but of course has the advantage of survivability. My only real kvetch is the lack of a silence but meh, I’ll deal with it. I’m sure shadow is better at killing, but Rags wants to show off his purty robes.

Fangs of the Devourer

Ok, wait a minute. How is it that I thought sub had become boring? zomgsomuchfun! I seriously had as much fun on this as I do on outlaw. So glad now that I have two rogues so I can mess around with both. Despite not having actually played sub since before the class changes, I *almost* got through without a single death. I mean like I only had to poke the final boss once after coming back from death to finish her off. And then at the end after returning to the hall, someone unexpected shows up. Wait a minute, that didn’t happen in the outlaw one! So cool.

The Fangs of Ashamane

Ok I think I have enough fangs in this post now to tear my way through the Brokened Isles and back. Fun quest full of druidy lore and scenery. Some things I’m not very good at as I haven’t really done cat since … Jade Forest? No, a couple of zones past that, she had the opening ‘kill Osul’ quests for Townlong in her log when the invasions hit. So yeah I got my butt kicked once learning how close I can stealth to stuff but otherwise not a big deal. The screenshot doesn’t come out very well though because of the darkness and the angle. Oh well.

The Warswords of Valor

Ok, for some reason I thought these were going to be 1H, but they are actually big old 2H. TG4evah! Sorry to you fans of SMF, reroll rogue or frost DK.

Anyway … Fury is a little bit different than before. Bloodthirst doesn’t really heal for much and … dude, I actually used bandages. For reals. That doesn’t mean it’s not fun, because it is! It’s just not all that durable anymore, which, I mean honestly, isn’t that the whole idea of a berserking type of fighter? Take damage but dish out more than you get? So yeah, thematically it makes sense. I ran all over Tanaan last xpac killing whatever I met and it was just insane because I almost couldn’t die. Fury warriors were spoiled and OP and that’s pretty much how he ended up my main. So yeah, I have to applaud the changes right now. Maybe later I will change my mind once I start the real questing, but for now, I’m just gonna be positive and roll with it.

So that’s a wrap. I still need to get my two DH going, and my third DK, but I’m going to work on leveling what I’ve got for now. I’ve sent like 5 characters to their first zone, none of which was Highmountain, and gained all of two levels so far, so I have TONS of stuff to look forward to!

Class 6 and Season 5

February 8, 2016

Yeah, I know, you thought the blog was dead, didn’t you? Well it mostly is,  but I figured I should at least post big things, traditions, ya know? Like Rainbow shots …

Yeah, that’s the ‘new’ wizard I made for season 5. I say ‘new’ in quotes because I used the new rebirth feature to restart my level 20-something wizard over. I think he’s twice that level now, somewhere in the 40s. I dunno, I haven’t played in a week. The Faire started yesterday so I did something else instead …

Yep, that’s Alestav the rogue finishing his leveling and getting my 6th class to level 100, joining Death Knight, Hunter, Mage, Paladin and Warrior as my finished classes. So I only have 4 to go. Ok 5 really, but one of them is going to get the level 100 boost that comes with Legion. Probably my level 69 dwarf shaman, although I am also considering the worgen druid who is level 40-something. It wouldn’t take long to level her to 60 so she could get the professions. I’m going with one of those because I also have two professions to get to 600, leatherworking and inscription, which would be appropriate for either one of them. I also have a level 59 human rogue who would have been a nice choice had I not already had Ales almost leveled.

Who am I?

March 19, 2015

I’ve posted Alestav the undead rogue before having fun with Glyph of Disguise. But that was before selfies! It’s even more fun now.

WoWScrnShot_031415_210954

He can be from any orc clan he wants!

WoWScrnShot_031415_211437

Van even finally remembered to use the camera.

If you’re not entirely sick of selfies yet, I post all of them to my twitter @acehawkblade and don’t re-post all of them here.

It Goes To 11

May 30, 2014

Well, that’s it. Finally there. All eleven classes at max level.

WoWScrnShot_052914_224354

There were so many lockboxes in my guild bank that I couldn’t take it anymore, so over the last couple of evenings I took Al out questing. As always, he had a grand time with his Glyph of Disguise. He turned into mantid …

WoWScrnShot_052814_220915

and also into saurok. Apparently the disguise didn’t fool Kovok, though. Perhaps it was the smell … I’m sure Forsaken and saurok both smell bad, but not the same kind of bad.

WoWScrnShot_052914_222645

The first thing I did was buy flying for him because, well, if I do anything at all other than open lockboxes, he’s going to want to fly. He nearly made back as much as he spent when he opened all of those boxes, though. Then I had Oranis dig out some Timeless gear to send him. Hmm … that helm looked awesome on a femtaur druid but on him? yeah … no. Might have to spend some of his lockbox gold on transmog.

WoWScrnShot_052914_231207

Side topic … the Azeroth Choppers bikes are done! What did you all think? I loved the shine and polish of the Alliance bike … but those tank treads. I’m sorry, but tank treads are not Alliance. I totally would have voted for that bike if it had wheels with some shiny silver spokes. They could have done some aluminum and bronze to compliment the awesome metalwork on the rest of the bike and I would have blown the dust off my Alliance just to ride it. Oh well. Now, a trike with tank treads on the back and an oversized front tire SCREAMS Horde. I’m fond of trikes anyway so … yeah. It’s not pretty but then, it’s not supposed to be. It is, however, badass. Van can’t wait to get his hands on it.
