I Can Haz Alts Nao?

May 17, 2012

Notice anything new here?

I logged on last night and did one non-class quest to get myself closer to 30 and that sweet, sweet Impale ability, then just banged out the rest of the class stuff on Alderaan. Basically the same thing I did on Van way back when, but Van needed a lot of help on his final quest. I was pretty sure Arelin could handle it on his own as long as I got him to 30; the elites you face in the quest are 32. Having Impale gave me another bleed to go with the talented bleed on my Force Scream. Of course, it also helps that I’ve kept my gear updated. My synthweaving is up-to-date to the point that I am making actual upgrades for myself.

So, now that my legacy is in place …

What?!? Just one teensy widdle alt to park on the fleet by the GTN. I promise. Pleeeeze? I need one! I miss my Roz. I won’t level him past the fleet until Arelin is 50.

Oh, and yes, I did try out D3 last night. I played for a little over 3 hours and got a barbarian to level 8 and unlocked the blacksmith. It’s fun … but … ToR!!! Less than a minute in Mumble and my side was already hurting.

I Still Love Tatooine

May 15, 2012

Even though it’s not as exciting now that the Rakghoul virus outbreak has been contained, I still enjoy visiting Tatooine. I finished the regular quests there last night. Of course, while I was there, I spent some time getting datacrons. (I know you’re all so very surprised.) Sunday when I first landed on the planet and was doing the quests in Mos Ila itself, I decided I was getting that datacron on the roof even if it took all night. Last time I got it Roz had a sorcerer along with him who ended up pulling him up when they finally managed to make the last set of jumps. (Roz is the one I’ve been dying to play. I need another sin. But I want to make a merc and try healing again, too. Argh. Must. Get. Legacy. Soon.) Well, apparently all the practice I’ve been getting recently has improved my skills, because I did manage to get it! I didn’t screenshot that one though.

The second one I was planning on skipping, because the area you jump down from is a heroic area. But as I was riding by, I thought ‘you know, I should just see if I can get to the spot without fighting anything.’ Well, there was a single elite standing in the way that I didn’t think I could avoid. So I rode towards him and force charged from my hoverbike and … an add popped up out of the sand behind him as soon as I entered combat. Also elite. I stayed on the one I was attacking and let Quinn take it on the chin from the other one. He held on long enough for mine to die at the same time he did. The second one killed me, but despawned when I died. Mission accomplished!

From there I rode out to the southwest corner of the Dune Sea to the half-buried sandcrawler where you catch the Jawa balloon.

I’ve heard stories of it bugging out and dropping people to the sand halfway through the journey. Fortunately, this did not happen to me, and after a leisurely ride (during which I took the opportunity to stuff my face with chips and salsa and punish Quinn) it finally approached the sandcrawler that the datacrons are on.

I made the jump and collected my prizes.

I didn’t go to the one in the cave yet. It’s in the bonus area and I haven’t decided yet whether to stay on the planet or move on. I want my legacy but … I don’t want to rush the questline so fast that I’m unable to complete it, either. Sure, there are at least half a dozen people who would be happy to come to my class quest and slam that Jedi into paste for me, but … well, we’ll see. At the moment he is on his ship, because I ended the night with the space missions.

Tonight is probably D3. I started the download shortly after midnight, and when I got up at 8:30 it was 79% done. Yes, my connection is slow. We’re supposed to raid tonight though so we’ll see. I know pretty much everyone is playing D3 though so I don’t know if they will show up or not. At least if we’re all on D3 we can tell who is online and coerce them to raid, thanks to stalker ID.

Halfway There

May 14, 2012

Yes, no joke. New Arelin is level 25 already. Heck, he’s actually nearly 26. I’m really not sure how it’s going so fast, and I’ve had urges to start alts (big surprise right) but I am determined to get my new legacy active first.

Friday night the raid was called … for the duration of the expansion … so I hopped back over to SW:TOR and finished Dromund Kaas. Got my ship, bought a couple of upgrades, and finished off the night with some space battles.

Saturday I did the space dailies first. I gained a full level off those plus the ones from the night before. So, at 17, I headed for Balmorra. Remember how I hated this planet before? Well … I’m kinda fond of it now that I know my way around it. I did the entire planet that day, then headed for Nar Shaddaa.

Side note on datacrons: That series is on hiatus since, well, it was something I was doing with Van. Arelin is picking them up as he goes, but he isn’t able to get them all on each planet at-level unless he has a group. He did pick up two on Balmorra but I didn’t screenshot them.

Yesterday I picked up where I left off on Nar Shaddaa. I also looked up the datacrons for the planet. Unfortunately, many of them are located in the bonus series areas and aren’t accessible the first time through the planet. There were three I could get to, though. The first required some jumping to get on a roof, then from there onto this floating kiosk that takes you around above the district and over the platform that the datacron is on. Pretty cool.

The second one I went to get required even more jumping. See the iron girder I am on? Now look below me and see the two lower levels of girders that make up this contraption. Yes, I had to jump from girder to girder. I fell. A lot.

From there it was across the girder, onto a platform, across a canvas tarp, onto another platform which has a working elevator. You can see the elevator in the background here as I’m crossing the tarp.

From the platform the elevator took me to, I had to walk this pipe. Not difficult, but a bit scary, because a fall would mean death and having to start over from the very beginning.

Once off the pipe it’s an easy jump from the platform to another canvas tarp that leads directly to the datacron.

The third one was pretty easy, once I got the first fall onto the big pipe down. See, I had to hop over this ledge and land on the pipe below me, but if I was off just a little, I’d slide off to one side or the other.

That platform at the bottom of the shot with the speeder on it is the goal. So, once I’m on the pipe it’s easy, I just run to the other end of it and drop down to the one below it. It was hard to see that they were staggered when looking from above, but looking straight at them is a different story.

And from there I just hopped down to the floor and clicked on the speeder, which took me to the datacron platform and dropped me off. A comm unit on the ground next to me could then be clicked which returned me to the zone’s taxi pad.

Now, as you can tell from the shots, there are always people to chat with in Mumble. I’m not so sure I’d be leveling so fast if I hadn’t been lucky enough to have a friend in a guild that happened to be a good fit for me. And Pie himself has been so incredibly awesome. He’s sent me those health packs that heal both you and your companion (which came in very handy before I got Quinn), super awesome Grade 2 upgrades for my ship which have allowed me to easily stay current on my space battles, custom pants and helm along with armoring and mods for them (thank you for getting me out of that stupid skirt I’m wearing in the screenshots!!!), aaaaaaaaand a custom-built hoverbike so I didn’t have to purchase a speeder last night. Pie is awesome.

I’m about halfway through Tatooine already I think. I still love Tatooine but it’s just not the same without the Rakghoul outbreak. I miss my rakling pets, too. *sigh* Oh well. Tonight I will get to the Dune Sea and maybe I’ll finally get to ride that balloon.

Small World

May 11, 2012

This is totally crazy. I mean really, my mind is still kinda blown this morning.

I logged on to my new ToR home last night for the scheduled guild meeting. It was about 40 minutes before start time, so I asked in chat if anyone would be interested in running BT with me or if it was too close to meeting time. One guy said he was just doing some PvP to waste time and would be glad to run me through. So he logs over to his main toon and I do a double take at the sight of the name but I’m like … nah, must be a coincidence. That would be too weird.

But as we’re going along and chatting as we progress through all the RP, I’m like, you know, maybe … I’m just gonna throw it out there and see what happens.

So I say “I used to know this troll mage named Skullmonkey …”

And he’s like “omg that was me!”

So I told him yeah, I used to play a Tauren huntress named Junahu at that time.

And he’s like “omg I know you!”

/both minds blown

That was THREE YEARS AGO on my original server. We raided in a 25 man pug together many times in Naxx. Then I lost track of him when I server transferred … where I met Pie and friends on Dawnbringer. And now Pie has brought me here, and Monkey is here too! Too. freaking. strange.

The only way this could get any more insane is if Lakape suddenly showed up in the guild, too.
