That’s enough leveling

October 16, 2017

So the goal of getting all twelve classes to max level is complete. Thanks to two or three invasions over the last week, the last two are done.

The eleventh was Adryen the monk.

And last we have my demon hunter, Feorn the Fabulous.

The twelve are split evenly, six Alliance, six Horde … although I wasn’t quite organized enough to split them further by armor type, as all of my clothies are Horde and all of my plate wearers are Alliance. Meh, whatever. At least I also got the tailors on Horde with the clothies and the BS on Alliance with the plate wearers. Sorry Horde, the LW is on Alliance. Maybe when I’m bored (wait, when is that??) I’ll send some of the duplicate class alts to the invasions to remedy that situation.

Next goal is to finish all of the class campaigns, followed by all of the class mounts. I’ve finished like half of the campaigns so far? No, seven. I’ve gotten four of the mounts, although I have two more that are on the final quest/scenario to get theirs. The last of the seven just needs to collect sentinax marks which I am really lazy about because boooooooooring. The other five are recently leveled and still working on the gear they need to do the heroic dungeons in their class campaigns. Yes, yes, I could do normal, but the queues for normal are usually longer. And it only takes a few carefully chosen WQs and whatever unsullied gear Kerick finds to get them up to 825. It’s really not difficult.

Side goal for Oranis the mage, as mentioned last week, is all of the Legion fishing reps, most of which I plan to do on Sundays while I watch football. Yesterday I did the one in Azsuna since that is who was up. Thankfully, these take MUCH less time than Conjurer Margoss did, mainly because the things that you fish up can be 3-4 at a time instead of only 1-2 like his are. In just about 2 hours, give or take 10 minutes, I was done.

Four More Artifacts

September 2, 2016

I am making steady progress getting through my artifact weapon quests. I generally have about three hours to play in the evening, which is time enough to do two of them a night and take my time about it. So here are the ones I got over the last two nights.

Skull of the Man’ari

This was appropriately full of demons and fel. As for the fights, well … since I’m still just getting started with the changes to the demonology spec, I was glued to my soul shards and pet indicators, trying to get everything in and buffed, and most of the fights were over before I knew it and I was standing there going ‘uh …’

Fists of the Heavens

This was the first one I died on. When I ran back, Li Li had pretty much finished off the mobs that did it. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have that tiny little girl panda showing you up, especially when you’re supposed to be a Grand Master? I think I know who I’m choosing as my successor.

WoWScrnShot_083116_211533

There’s a pandaren in the cafe at the order hall that sings the most beautiful and haunting melody that I could stand there all day and just listen to him. Sadly though, for whatever reason, the monks’ order hall is not a rest area. I hope this is just a bug and it will be amended in a hotfix so that it will be like the others.

Blades of the Fallen Prince

Ok, wth? I mean, I used to main (ok fine co-main) DK and played all three specs, so I figured eh, frost DK, how hard can it be eh? Yeah I started on it Wednesday night and let me tell you, if you don’t know what you’re doing, which apparently I did not, you will have a hard time. I must have died a dozen times. I did make it to the final fight eventually, but it was clear that it wasn’t going to happen so I went to bed and spent part of yesterday studying up on my class.

I went back in last night with a couple of different talents and at least one ability on my bar that I had overlooked. (control undead is your friend!) I died exactly once. So .. yeah.

BTW, that right there is my new desktop background, to celebrate my victory over not knowing how to DK anymore. :p

Seeing Bolvar, er, the Lich King again was both cool and sad. But not NEARLY as shocking as the quest that came after I returned to Acherus with my new blades. I don’t want to spoil too much, so all I will say is that the Lich King wants me to raise a new set of Four Horsemen to be my generals or lieutenants or whatever. His choice for the first horseman blew me away. Like, whoa. Suffice it to say, Kaly jumped quite a few spots on my ‘play this toon first’ list because I can’t wait to see where this storyline goes (which I assume is part of the order hall campaign.)

Doomhammer

Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrawr! My Tirion dies, and Thrall goes off (again) to ‘find himself’? Are you kidding me???

Thrall aside, it was pretty cool seeing all of the other shaman we have quested with in the past. Nobundo, Rehgar, Erunak, etc. And best of all, I got to go back to one of my favourite zones of all time, with one of my very favourite NPCs because come on, who is more badass than Stormcaller Mylra?

This questline was the most fun so far, just because I love Deepholm so much. I got Pebble out while I was there so he could see his old home and hang out a bit. There was a lot more to kill for this than some of the other quests but I really enjoyed it. I’m liking enhancement a lot and will probably play her some more.

I’ll see how many I can get through this weekend. I’ll probably have to break them up into multiple posts next week. I still have 3 mages, 2 druids, the other DK (or 2, but maybe not because I don’t think Kirgra has a 2H in her bags. I might just have Arelin do the blood one, too), 2 priests … I think that’s it. OH! And 2 rogues. And 2 warriors. So yeah … it may be awhile before I do any actual questing, but I’m ok with that. I mean seriously, we’re only 3 days into the expansion, there will be many many more. 🙂

Nine

June 14, 2016

This has been a good month for me so far in WoW.  On June 1 the Northrend Timewalking event came up again, and I finally had enough tokens to purchase the horse I had been wanting, the Ironbound Wraithcharger.

Then of course, the movie came out last week. I didn’t go the first two nights … I’m weird and prefer going on Saturday mornings when it’s light outside and the crowds are smaller. The only option on Saturday morning was 3D, and I had reservations about that, but I went anyway and I have to say, I think it was even better in 3D. I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome the movie was. Granted, there were a couple of things that, being interested in the lore and having read the books, I found to be … changed a little more than I would have liked. But I also understand that those changes made it a better movie, and I’m ok with that. I might even go see it again, and will almost certainly be getting the DVD later on.

One other nice result from the excitement of seeing the movie is that I feel like playing again, even daydreaming at work about which character I am going to level when I get home. It’s been months since I’ve had that feeling and it’s good to want to play again. I even finished my 9th class this weekend.

So Adryen Monk joins the other eight and now all I have left are Druid and Priest. The Druid will probably be my Tauren lady because she is 92 and nearly ready for Gorgrond. My troll is still 89 and so … I don’t know. The priest will probably be my human, even though he is also 89, because then I will have 4 max level characters on each of my three main servers. (I already have 2 DKs at 100 because … well, because I wanted to!) One of each other class will be enough. Van is certainly worthy of carrying Ashbringer, even though I would have loved for Kerick to be the one. I sent Kerick to get a garrison but I just … I can’t play him. I can’t make him look good and the new humans just aren’t him no matter what I do at the barbershop.

Oh yeah, I’m also gonna need a gnome hunter and a demon hunter or two, ya? Hmm … oh well. Gotta finish these last two classes, first. 😉

Progress on Something New

March 31, 2014

I didn’t get any leveling done this weekend. I got sidetracked by something. No, no, not a new game. Not D3 either.

Friday night I was running around with Averry. He wanted to go to MC and BWL, and I decided to take Van because he needs rep and also because the character that Averry was bringing couldn’t use 2 handers and I would cry if Ashkandi dropped when no one could mog it. Averry mentioned that it would be more important to have someone who can use the legendary drops in MC. I sort of scoffed at this. I mean, what are the odds of any of those dropping? I’ve seen one binding in all the years I’ve played. So of course, just to prove me wrong, the Eye of Sulfuras drops.

You can guess what I spent the weekend doing, right? I’m going to have to craft a Sulfuron Hammer to fuse with that Eye in order to get my legendary. So off I went to Wowhead.

I happened to have one Sulfuras Ingot in my guild bank, and Kirgra just happens to have a BS skill of 305, when 300 is needed to learn the pattern for the hammer. I also gathered the 20 gold bars, 10 truesilver bars, and 2 Star Rubies that were needed for her to learn to smelt dark iron. This all required two separate trips to BRD however, because I hadn’t even thought about the dark iron until after I went there to get the BS pattern.

So, the hammer requires 8 Sulfuron Ingots, 10 blood of the mountain, 10 Fiery Core, 10 Lava Core, 25 Essence of Fire, 50 Arcanite Bars, and 20 dark iron bars. I remember helping Hartbane gather these things way back when. Well, now it is my turn.

In one run through MC, Kirgra gathered all of the cores and essences. Those are the easy part. She got enough dark iron to craft 7 bars. That is the hard part. It takes 8 ore to make 1 bar. Ouch! And the nodes do not respawn. If I had more than one miner … *eyes Arelin but resists the temptation to transfer him*

Arcanite bars I wasn’t even going to mess around. I bought two stacks of Arcane Crystals and a bunch of Thorium bars on the AH and put Van to work transmuting. You want that hammer you gotta do some of the work, elf! Fortunately, he’s transmute specced, so I only had to buy two extra crystals past the two stacks.

So, what do we have left? Sulfuron Ingots and blood of the mountain. The ingots only drop off of … I should know his name without looking it up after so many runs this weekend. Maybe my brain is blocking it out because I never want to see him again? Oh yeah, Golemagg. Anyway, that’s a chance of getting one per week per character. Thanks to Averry and my many alts, I have 7 already. Blood of the Mountain can be had from mining dark iron nodes, OR can drop off of Molten Giants and Molten Destroyers. I managed to collect 6 of these.

Yes, I actually ran every single alt that is 85+ on Kargath-Norgannon through MC this weekend. Instead of leveling, they were working. AND the route I used to get to Blackrock Mountain was flying up from the Blasted Lands, so I made them all detour to Karazhan and kill Attumen. Obviously the horse didn’t drop or this post would be quite different. Anyway … this still gave me practice on the new classes. AoE practice especially, something I don’t do a lot of when questing (not counting the prot paladin, who pulls as much as he can.) Ok, maybe the balance druid didn’t need AoE practice. The rogue, he just vanished and ran away when he aggroed the packs of core hounds in Magmadar’s room. The shaman learned about fire nova (I didn’t even have it on my bar prior to this.) Adryen found a new respect for the Spinning Crane Kick that all of the other monk players I see use almost to the exclusion of any other abilities. Vorta learned to love Berserk … and hate the long cooldown on it. The prot paladin? Um … he couldn’t kill them. He tanked them all the way through the instance, clear up until Ragnaros died, and then just ran them all to the entrance and escaped out the portal. LOL! It was silly, I know, but I kinda of enjoyed having a wall of drooling monster dogs in my face the whole time. Hey, it gave me nonstop Avenger’s Shield procs! Good times.
