Blog Challenge #24: Class Fantasy, Yay or Nay?

August 14, 2017

I haven’t posted in awhile (again) but Z & Cinder have gotten me with their latest topic, Class Fantasy, Yay or Nay?

My answer is going to differ depending on the class, because some they got right and some are rather lacking.

The Good

Outlaw Rogue. Yes please. I love the toe-to-toe, pistol packing highwayman/swashbuckler image and the spec nails it. Plus it’s fun to play. The class hall is fitting, although it’s a pain sometimes to get to lately if you use the shop next to the fishing trainer. I haven’t really played the other specs yet but they seem to fit.

Balance Druid. The class hall, the Emerald Dreamway, heck, all of Val’sharah, just SCREAMS druid. I mean, seriously, I even have my own little patch to plant things and hope for my very own tiny Broot, and I get to run around with Mylune and have little critters randomly follow me around and I’m wielding THE SCYTHE OF ELUNE … honestly the only bad thing I can say is what the heck is that class mount? Or rather, why is it SO BIG? I will get it eventually but I won’t use it. I’m already a big fat Tauren, I *like* being a regular sized bird in flight so I can actually see around myself, ya know?

Paladin. Leaning toward The Meh category because, well, it’s been my main for the last two expansions and isn’t now, but .. well, that started in the middle of WoD so I can’t totally blame Legion or the class fantasy of it. I love the class hall, all of my favorite paladins are there … well, all except for my beloved Tirion. I think part of the reason I have been dragging my heels on finishing the DK is because I’ve heard parts of what’s going to happen in the story and I just. don’t. want. I mean, even looking at Ashbringer on my back … it’s probably the reason paladin isn’t my main. So I guess I CAN blame Legion. I know it sounds dumb, but Tirion was my in-game hero and knowing that I’m taking his place just doesn’t sit well with me. Does it make sense for the class fantasy and the story? Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it. I like the class mount though. I need to keep collecting AP to get all of the colours.

The Meh

Mage. Yeah the class hall is ok but, I don’t know … I love burning things, fire mage is my main this xpac after all, but the class fantasy doesn’t excite me much.

Warlock. Same as mage really, it’s all very warlocky and the spec differences are appropriate enough, but the only thing I’m excited about is the class mount. I need to keep working on that because I want it.

The Eh What?

Warrior. The specs make sense. But the whole Odyn and the Vrykuls thing. I just don’t get it. My human warrior is having a hard time identifying with them. And don’t EVEN get me started on how my Forsaken feels about them. He’d just as soon shove them into an alcove in the Undercity as have to visit that bright, golden eyesore in the sky. Nope.

Hunter. I like BM. I like Hati and having dire beasts and all that. But … I think it’s a personal thing, because my hunter, she isn’t … well, she’s less Nesingwary and more Rexxar. To her, being a hunter is about her partnership and friendship with her pets. It’s not about stalking prey, or trophies, it’s not even about fighting. I sometimes wonder why she chose the path of the hunter at all instead of that of the druid. So the class hall doesn’t really do much for her. And she hates guns. Why in the world is the BM weapon a gun? I don’t get it.

That covers the 7 classes I have leveled.

Hello 2017

January 17, 2017

Yeah I know, we’re already 17 days into the new year and here I am *finally* posting. But I figured I should at least toss up an update on how things are going.

WoW
Oranis got a legendary in one of his emissary bags finally, Marquee Bindings of the Sun King. These give a chance for your next non-instant pyroblast to deal 300% more damage after consuming hot streak. Normally I NEVER hard cast pyro, using it only with hot streak. But this certainly makes it worth it, even with only a 15% chance. I still won’t usually cast it mid-fight when I’m running solo, preferring to use it to pull the next mob. Coupled with my favourite trinket, the Devilsaur Shock-Baton which slows the enemy when it procs, most things burn to ash without even reaching me.

Junahu finished her hunter campaign so I am essentially done with her. Kerick and Hunahuna, who reached 110 over the weekend, are both working on their campaigns and did the World Quest event over the weekend to get the bonus rep and the 5k resources. I suppose I should get back to work on leveling someone else to follow them. I think Kroy and Sanbec are probably the furthest along.

Hearthstone
I posted awhile back that I was having problems deciding what to craft next. I finally decided on Tirion even though I’m not really playing paladin right now. Anyone who has been around this blog for any length of time will not be surprised, though, as I am a longtime Tirion fangirl. It just seemed wrong to not have him in HS, especially since they killed him off in WoW. 😦

Summoners War
Who … what? This isn’t a Blizzard game! Heck, it’s not even a PC game. You’ll just have to bear with me because BigBearButt posted about this game a couple of times and got me hooked. No I mean really hooked. Like, I’m looking stuff up and making spreadsheets hooked. Yeah. So, probably none of you will know what I’m talking about but that’s ok.

My Dagora is 5* and over 23k hp so he’s able to solo Tamor 3 Hell to level up my other mons. I also have Belladeon and Konamiya 5*. I don’t know who to 5 next .. I have Ahman, Chasun, Shannon, Bernard as likely candidates .. Darion is still 3* but I could easily evolve and level him by the time I have the mats to do a 5. I have some other good 4s that I definitely want to evolve at some point, too, but I’m not sure they should be next .. Mikene, Platy, Shimitae. Honestly though it’s probably between Bernard and Chasun. From what I’ve read, I’ll need Bernard and Shannon for my giants 10 team for sure. Then again, I’ll need Mikene to fuse Veromos, so … yeah. Either way, whatever I do will be for building my GB10 team. I probably should have done Shannon instead of Konamiya but his cleanse is so useful everywhere …

Busy Busy Busy

Oh my, it’s been awhile since I last posted. It’s not that I haven’t been playing because I sure have! I just haven’t found anything new and exciting to post about, really. Other than this, which I had been dreaming of since Sunwell was current and I was a newb who’d never even raided before so had no chance in Azeroth of attaining it and its magical dream of not having to carry around ammo anymore.

Last week I was on vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I took advantage of both the WoW Anniversary and Pilgrim’s Bounty to get some leveling done and get extra bonus rep on the world quests because of the world quest weekly which is so wonderful. Juna who is pictured up there getting her now-obsolete bow was the first one I worked on. She managed to finish the world quest weekly as well and is now flush with resources and working on her campaign. Kerick also finished leveling, albeit not until Saturday or Sunday I forget which, so he didn’t try to finish the weekly, but he also got work in on his campaign. He hasn’t been to Suramar yet, Juna has. I have a more hate than love relationship with that place. Juna did find it nice and easy to get over to the eastern part of the zone though with her network of Eagle aeries. She went there to do the other Murky world quest. I didn’t even know these existed, but she’s the only one so far who’s done Murky’s quests in northern Highmountain, so they didn’t show up for Oranis. She got an achievement after finishing that third one. It’s always fun getting achievements that you don’t even expect. Then when I cleaned out her bags later I found this Mrgrglhjorn toy in there. Family Reunion

aka, Juna goes to Highmountain

Being a Tauren hunter, obviously Junahu had to visit Highmountain first. Having lots of experience with Thunder Bluff’s elevators was a plus, although the ones at Thunder Totem are a lot more enclosed and should be harder to die on.

The quest areas were all pretty close together. Honestly, navigating Thunder Totem itself was probably the most difficult part. I had that quest to return the mounts to the stable keeper for a long time before I figured out there was a path back there up behind the main boardwalk. Doh.

I didn’t want to give Moozy back. Seriously is there anything more adorable than baby Tauren??

Then while I was running around I ran into my good friend Rakael so of course we had to stop and take some screenshots and stuff. We also did the Huln Highmountain quest at the same time, which was totally amazing and I don’t really want to spoil it here. Just make sure you do it when you’re there! You get it from Spiritwalker Ebonhorn.

Juna did almost everything there was to do in Highmountain, including all of Nesingwary’s stuff and the main questline to recover the pillar. I’d heard scary stories of hour long dungeon queues, but put her in it anyway figuring I might as well, and it popped instantly! Hm, maybe those stories are for heroics? Anyway, I like Neltharion’s Lair quite a bit. It seemed to be just the right length and wasn’t terribly overburdened with trash. This screenshot is not from the dungeon itself but from the questline leading up to it.

As for Dargrul the Underking himself, well … the drogbar are seriously one of the coolest races we’ve seen. I mean really, how awesome is this guy?

wowscrnshot_091016_191327

I think Highmountain is my favorite zone so far. Granted it’s also the only one that I have ‘finished’ (I still have quests there but I’ve done all of the things for the achievement) so we will see if it stays on top after I’ve done some more elsewhere.
