Four More Artifacts

September 2, 2016

I am making steady progress getting through my artifact weapon quests. I generally have about three hours to play in the evening, which is time enough to do two of them a night and take my time about it. So here are the ones I got over the last two nights.

Skull of the Man’ari

This was appropriately full of demons and fel. As for the fights, well … since I’m still just getting started with the changes to the demonology spec, I was glued to my soul shards and pet indicators, trying to get everything in and buffed, and most of the fights were over before I knew it and I was standing there going ‘uh …’

Fists of the Heavens

This was the first one I died on. When I ran back, Li Li had pretty much finished off the mobs that did it. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have that tiny little girl panda showing you up, especially when you’re supposed to be a Grand Master? I think I know who I’m choosing as my successor.

There’s a pandaren in the cafe at the order hall that sings the most beautiful and haunting melody that I could stand there all day and just listen to him. Sadly though, for whatever reason, the monks’ order hall is not a rest area. I hope this is just a bug and it will be amended in a hotfix so that it will be like the others.

Blades of the Fallen Prince

Ok, wth? I mean, I used to main (ok fine co-main) DK and played all three specs, so I figured eh, frost DK, how hard can it be eh? Yeah I started on it Wednesday night and let me tell you, if you don’t know what you’re doing, which apparently I did not, you will have a hard time. I must have died a dozen times. I did make it to the final fight eventually, but it was clear that it wasn’t going to happen so I went to bed and spent part of yesterday studying up on my class.

I went back in last night with a couple of different talents and at least one ability on my bar that I had overlooked. (control undead is your friend!) I died exactly once. So .. yeah.

BTW, that right there is my new desktop background, to celebrate my victory over not knowing how to DK anymore. :p

Seeing Bolvar, er, the Lich King again was both cool and sad. But not NEARLY as shocking as the quest that came after I returned to Acherus with my new blades. I don’t want to spoil too much, so all I will say is that the Lich King wants me to raise a new set of Four Horsemen to be my generals or lieutenants or whatever. His choice for the first horseman blew me away. Like, whoa. Suffice it to say, Kaly jumped quite a few spots on my ‘play this toon first’ list because I can’t wait to see where this storyline goes (which I assume is part of the order hall campaign.)

Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrawr! My Tirion dies, and Thrall goes off (again) to ‘find himself’? Are you kidding me???

Thrall aside, it was pretty cool seeing all of the other shaman we have quested with in the past. Nobundo, Rehgar, Erunak, etc. And best of all, I got to go back to one of my favourite zones of all time, with one of my very favourite NPCs because come on, who is more badass than Stormcaller Mylra?

This questline was the most fun so far, just because I love Deepholm so much. I got Pebble out while I was there so he could see his old home and hang out a bit. There was a lot more to kill for this than some of the other quests but I really enjoyed it. I’m liking enhancement a lot and will probably play her some more.

I’ll see how many I can get through this weekend. I’ll probably have to break them up into multiple posts next week. I still have 3 mages, 2 druids, the other DK (or 2, but maybe not because I don’t think Kirgra has a 2H in her bags. I might just have Arelin do the blood one, too), 2 priests … I think that’s it. OH! And 2 rogues. And 2 warriors. So yeah … it may be awhile before I do any actual questing, but I’m ok with that. I mean seriously, we’re only 3 days into the expansion, there will be many many more.🙂

I finally did it! It only took three weeks …

And yes, I know that Zao has the least interesting moveset out of the mini celestials but I’m the type of person who picks the cutest pet first, especially since I know I can eventually earn them all. It was late when I finished, but I couldn’t just log out, I had to run around the island with him for awhile. He’s just too darn adorable.

It wasn’t until I had beaten the three champions and no achievement popped up for defeating all nine of them that I realized the tracking for the achievement is per character. Van has killed everyone but Mari, but I logged on late last night and just took the character that was already parked on the Isle. Oops. Oh well, maybe that group will be up again next week.

The last time I got as far as the celestials, I got stuck on Xu-Fu … mostly because I had no mechs left by the time I got there. This time I managed to beat Zao without using my Clockwork Gnome, so I had at least one left. Ok, let’s go consult Tamer Liopleurodon’s guide. If you haven’t been to her blog, you are missing out. So much awesome pet info! Anyway, based on her strategy, I dug through my available pet list and came up with a pair of Wild Hatchlings to toss in with my Gnome, one Gold and one Jade. Both of these come with Call Lightning. Whichever one I started with, I had it cast call lightning. I was hoping to dodge Feed at the right time with Liftoff, but missed on the first dragon so he did get one cast of it off. When that one died I put in the Gnome and set up a turret. Then I went ahead and swapped him back out, because my lightning was about to fall off and I also didn’t want him to die before his turret was off cooldown again. Fortunately, one of Xu-Fu’s big attacks missed so that kind of balanced out the Feed that hit. I was so excited when my Gnome finished him off that I totally forgot to get a screenshot.

Those of you still trying, don’t give up! I don’t have a lot of the ‘necessary’ pets leveled .. no Anubisath, no Water Spirit, no Crow or Raven, no Chrominius, no Darkmoon Zeppelin or Mechanical Dragonling (although my Zep is getting close) … persistence WILL pay off eventually.

Alt Week: DK

August 23, 2013

Late to the party here, but since this sounds like a fun project, I think I’ll join in! Most of you probably already know if you read other blogs, but World of Lae has proposed celebrating our alts one class at a time for 11 weeks, and this first week is DK!

This is a fun one for me because DK is one of my favorite classes.

I wasted no time getting into DKs, making my first one the first day they came out, Arelin.

He was the first character I ever tanked on, clearing Naxx in Wrath, which was also the first raid tier I participated in. Then I … switched to playing Alliance for the rest of that expansion. But Shadow Rising was there on the horizon, dragging my troll mage through ICC right before Cata hit, and it wasn’t long into Cata before I was raiding on both sides. Thus, Arelin ended up tanking part of that first tier, including all of Bastion of Twilight, while I leveled my new main paladin on the side. Sadly, out of the DKs I will be talking about here today, he is the only one still stuck at 85.

On the Alliance side of things we have Kalyon.

He was originally a female Draenei but … I dunno, I just can’t play them. He made it to Northrend before I sent him to the surgeon and got him a makeover. He was the co-main throughout the last two tiers of Wrath, doing both tanking and DPS duties in both 10 and 25 man groups. His crowning achievement though, and still my best memory and most important event in my time in WoW, was tanking the guild’s first ever Lich King kill. He is and will forever be Kalyon the Kingslayer. I may be a healer now, but nothing will ever compare to the feeling of going toe-to-toe with the Lich King himself and coming out victorious after so many grueling months in ICC.

Last we have Kirgra.

Like Kaly, she isn’t the same as when she started out. But after a realm transfer, I decided that male troll wasn’t right for her, she needed a new start. So she became a female orc, which gave me an excuse to wear the slut plate that I’d been saving in the bank since Nagrand. She hasn’t done much, really, other than provide money, heirlooms, and mats to my army of alts on Kargath.

I have 5 level 90’s right now and 2 of them are DKs so … it’s pretty safe to say that I like playing the class. ^.^

This Just Will Not Do

April 18, 2013

For those of you who missed it, there was a rap battle between Garrosh and Varian on Sunday night at The Warchief’s Command Board. A poll was put up to determine the winner. Clearly Garrosh’s EPIC VERSE should come out on top. Yet somehow, some way, Varian is winning. I mean, There are even HORDE voting for him. Now, I understand that faction loyalties should not matter for something like this … IN THEORY. We all know that isn’t how things work in reality though, right? RIGHT?!?

FYV (1)

Ok. Maybe I was wrong. It seems that, just as there are Horde voting for Varian, there are also Alliance voting for Garrosh. Carry on then.

And if you have any suggestions for future matchups, make sure to drop them in the comments on the Command Board!
