New Stuff!

February 26, 2015

So how is everyone enjoying the patch? For the collectors like me it has been awesome so far … new pets, new followers, new toys, the jukebox and all of the music scrolls to go find … plenty of things to keep me occupied. There are even new missions that award archaeology pieces. This is good.

Van went to Black Temple for pets, and got frozen in mid-swing in a nice pose.

Between collecting all of the new things, though, Sanbec still found time to finish off that August Celestials rep so he could learn Alani.

Mount up!

As far as the new belf models go … I’m not excited about them but I have no problem with them, either. Much like the Forsaken, they are close enough to the originals as to not distract me while I am playing.

Lots ‘o Lovin

February 20, 2015

Yeah I know Love is in the Air has been over for a few days now, but I’ve been busy!

I finally bit the bullet one night and used the new group finder tool to join a group doing the achievement to get the new toy. And I have to say … that thing is SUPER convenient for getting things done! I was very surprised at how easy it was to find a large group and get in on the action within seconds, no waiting.

One person was ‘it’ and went around the circle. As that person went around targeting each person making up the circle, they would use their item on them and either jump or say ‘used’ to let them know they could move on to the next person. The stacks fall off after 10 seconds if not reapplied, thus the need for many people and a good system. The person in charge kept a list of people who still needed to be ‘it’, and would mark the person who would be next with an ‘x’ so that when ‘skull’ was done, they could jump right in and keep the circle moving.

It did take awhile because of the number of people involved but it was easy and actually a pretty good time.

In other news that sort of fits with the theme, Karius and Kalyon finally finished their joint effort to create a Vial of the Sands for my good friend Bocat.

In exchange, she helped me get Alani because she seems to enjoy farming skyshards, but, I don’t have any pictures yet because even though cloud serpent riding is account-wide, the mount still requires August Celestials rep to learn, so Sanbec has been visiting Pandaria to do dailies. :p

Rag Legs

I’ve mentioned before how much I love recruiting new followers from the Inn. Well, Juna seems to have the best luck. Not only did she get Soulare, but now she also has “Doc” Schweitzer. For anyone unfamiliar, Doc is a character from the comic Flintlocke’s Guide to Azeroth, penned by Dave ‘Fargo’ Kosak before he was hired by Blizzard as a quest designer. If you’ve ever done the Alliance intro to the Twilight Highlands, you have met Flintlocke. Doc is … well, not your normal priest. Juna found him sitting around the campfire by the fishing shack and just had to see what he would say if she decided to talk to him. Well … he’s just a tad bit confused, which is pretty normal for him, actually.

Obviously, he must be kept active. Too dang hilarious. I mean, he’s so dang drunk, he doesn’t even realize he’s in a HORDE garrison, talking to a TAUREN. hehe!

Arelin finished up Talador, or at least, everything he wanted to do there, and is ready to move on to the Spires of Arak. I just felt like getting a good shot of him because, well … I gotta admit, given what some of the other *cough human cough* races’ graphic updates have looked like, I want to remember how good he looks now.

What about the post title, you say? Oh. Yes. Since Van has all of his bro stones done and can’t do the Foundry until LFR opens next week, he only went into Highmaul for the two bosses that drop things he still needs, and then went to play in some old instances instead. Since he never did get Firelord, he went to Firelands heroic and cleared that place out last night, finally getting to see Ragnaros’ feet.

The place is quite easy to solo now, so I guess he’ll be going back for mounts. Or maybe I will send a caster to get the staff … or a druid to get a kitty staff and embers. Hmmm ….

So Long, Molten Core

January 13, 2015

So, the 10th Anniversary Event is going away today. I didn’t get everything I wanted from it, and it was a dreadfully long and painful raid for one guaranteed helm (and a mount on your first victory of course). Despite that, I consider it a successful anniversary. If they had nerfed it, it would not have conveyed the epic feeling of the original. It needed to be something that required some dedication and desire. Everyone got a Molten Corgi just for logging in. However, a bit higher drop rate on the pet and enchant would not have hurt anything. Sure, I only ran it a half dozen times or so, but figure 3 to 4 hours for each run and that turns into one full day spent in Molten Core.

Apparently last week when it was extended for an extra week, that was enough to motivate me to gear up the two alts I have at 100. Junahu was first, then Sanbec followed over the weekend. I also ran both of them through LFR Highmaul. Juna was lucky with gear drops, San only got a ring. San also spent a good part of nearly every fight watching from the floor. It’s not that I’m not used to melee considering my ‘main’ is a ret pally. I guess I just never quite realized how much I depend on sacred shield and word of glory to manage my health bar, not to mention divine protection which has a relatively short cooldown. And then there are divine shield or lay on hands in extreme cases. What does my warrior get? Die by the Sword on a long cooldown? That’s it? Really?? Oh, right, and pending victory or whatever every 30 seconds. And a healthstone.

Now that I have those two ready to lolraid, I’m not sure what I will do next. I have a project in the works on Alliance side which requires a fair bit of gold, so I’ve been playing there a lot more, so maybe it’s time to play with Kerick again. San got an upgraded quest reward in Nagrand that replaced his Garrosh heirloom, so it got passed down to Kerick. I just need a chunk of playtime long enough to get him through the jungle and get his garrison set up.
