110? Not yet…

September 27, 2016

but I’m getting there! I took a break to get Kerick into his order hall, but otherwise I worked on Oranis all weekend.

Kerick … well, he has to have Highlord, I mean really, Tirion would be so disappointed in him if he let him down. Ret is fine, I mean, it works and stuff dies and I don’t but … it’s not fun. I took Arelin out last night for awhile because I’d seen someone say you get Koltira as a bodyguard so I figured yeah ok, let’s DK! Unholy, same as ret … it works, stuff dies, heck I can pull more things with that than I have with any other character so far. But it just doesn’t grab me. Looks like warrior is going to win again as the most fun plate wearer to run around on … too bad the whole valarjar thing doesn’t do it for me. There really isn’t a follower that excites me. Then again, they’ve pretty much killed off all of the other warrior champions that I can think of. No more Varian, no more Hellscreams … ok there’s probably a Bronzebeard, and maybe Shandris Feathermoon? Genn Greymane? Dang, are there any left in the Horde besides Baine? Anyway …

One nice thing about all of the character hopping is that I haven’t run out of rested xp yet. Oranis hit 108 last night and still has almost a full level worth of rested bonus. He’s been to every zone and gotten friendly with everyone except the Highmountain but he only needs a quest or two to finish them. (I suppose he should give Moozy back at some point eh?) He’s gotten the pillars in both Azsuna and Val’sharah as well as completing the loremaster achievements in both. He even hung out with Jarod, who is one of my favourite characters ever.

The end of Val’sharah is both the most beautiful and saddest thing ever. I mean really, I cried for Tirion because it’s Tirion, but I sobbed for Ysera. It was just so well done.

Have I mentioned how much I love the scaling zones and the ability to go wherever you want? Oranis got his second class hall upgrade and now has portals in his class hall to each zone, making it easier than ever to zone hop across the world. He needs just two more recipes to move along with whatever Nomi is going to have him do. I already know where to get a couple, he just has to get his butt out there and quest for them. Like, what? We have to go set more stuff on fire? Oh darn. 😉

All Hail the Legion App

September 20, 2016

Last week I had only four characters (hunter, mage, rogue, druid) who had their order hall missions unlocked. That was pretty manageable even without the app. This weekend though I got busy and opened up a few more. I now have 9 characters running missions, which would totally be a drag without the app. I added another mage, a shaman, a warrior, and both priests to the list. Hmm … where are my paladins and death knights?? I need to get on that.

Rozjin and Vozzkaz both went to Highmountain. Arcane felt fine to me, I had no problems. Maybe not as much fun as fire, but certainly more than adequate at killing what needed to be killed. Same with enhance. And as a bonus, Moozy stays on your back when you ghost wolf! The quests take a lot longer when you keep stopping for screenshots though.

Sanbec went to Stormheim. He had less trouble with things than the elemental shaman who has also done part of the quests there. Maybe just because he was my most played character last xpac and I’m less familiar with shaman, maybe because fury warriors are just awesome (even though arms seems to be recommended again as the leveling spec); who knows? So I have no complaints with the class. I do have a complaint about Stormheim, however. In every other zone that I’ve been in, there is a place to bind your hearthstone or a flight path at or near every quest area. In Stormheim I’ve only found one at the camp you’re dropped at after the opening scenario, then WAY over at the village that you go to after two other large blocs of questing. Like you literally do two of the three tests before you find a new place to bind. And with the way travel is in this zone, I really did not want to quit until I had either a new flight path or a new hearth to easily return. Now, it’s possible I’m an idiot and just missed an NPC somewhere along the way. But if not, then I am annoyed at this oversight in design.

Both priests went to Azsuna. I’ve spent more time in Azsuna than any other zone. I’m not entirely sure why I chose it as the starting zone for so many, but it’s so familiar now that I can just get in there, whip out the requisite quests to get to 101, and move on to another character.

After so many, I couldn’t bring myself to start on another though, so I went back to Oranis. He had an order hall campaign quest to return to Azshara even though he had moved on to Val’sharah, so he went back to work on that. Fortunately, part of it was in a bonus area that I hadn’t completed before leaving, so I got to finish that up. Then in the middle of the next part the DDoS attacks hit, so I had to log out and watch football for awhile. Because, you know, the fantasy gods wanted to make sure I saw Adrian Peterson being helped back to the locker room without putting weight on his knee. $#@%%^@

Then there was pirate day yesterday. I hear there was a new toy that could drop from a new boss shark there at Booty Bay. I didn’t even log in yesterday because it was the first night of bowling league. Hey, I have to at least pretend to exercise once in awhile! Hope some of you were able to get it. For me there’s always next year. 🙂

Week’s End Roundup

September 16, 2016

I have four characters now that have at least made it to 101 to get their order hall missions going. I should probably get more of them going, but a couple of them have run out of resources so I’ve gone back and quested on them again to build up some more. I’m really in no hurry.

So I went back on Oranis to do a little bit more work in Azsuna. The quests at Nar’thalas Academy were especially fun. The combat practice from the tomes was my favorite.

He finished the questline for the pillar and, like Juna, got an instant dungeon queue. Um … ok then! I didn’t like Eye of Azshara near as much as Neltharion’s Lair though. Maybe it was just the difference in class. I felt like I spent more time running around avoiding stuff in this dungeon than I did in the other one. That’s always less of an issue on the hunter. The run was smooth though.

He’s out of resources again so out he’ll come tonight, whether to finish the questlines I didn’t do in Azsuna or to move somewhere, I’m not sure.

Hunahuna also ran out of resources, so I did a little more in Val’sharah. So far I’m liking the zone but I’m not sure I like boomkin. She may end up getting set aside in favour of the kitty.

Ysera’s new model looks great! For awhile at least.

The other character who got his missions going is Kroy. He bounced around some because of profession quests, starting in Azsuna to find Fargo Flintlock, then moving to Highmountain to find the mining trainer, which was an adventure in itself. I had no idea how to get up on the mountain. I eventually found my way up the wrong side, which was ok because I got to see this wonderful view.

And I also found this little family just chilling out on the mountainside.

Eventually I ran into an area that I thought might take me where I wanted to go, but I had to get past a max level boss creature. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try stealthing by him, even though I knew it was probably futile. On the plus side, as a ghost I was free to roam the peak and figure out how to get where I wanted to go. THAT was easier than figuring out how to get back to my body, so once I knew how to get to my quest objective I took a spirit rez and got there safely. Once I had the flight path there, I didn’t need to know how to ride there. At least until the next character with mining needs to go there … hmmm.

Hearthstone: Praise Yogg

September 15, 2016

I wasn’t a fan of the tavern brawl where you just picked two cards and got a deck full of them, so I was expecting this Top Three to be just as annoying. Last time people ran druid with innervate and Yogg and, well, I didn’t have Yogg so I couldn’t join in the fun and had to go with mechwarpers, which worked very well and quickly but wasn’t as much fun. So this time … owait, I still don’t have Yogg. Ok, but I can still have fun with druid, let’s go innervate, Prince Malchezaar, and, I dunno, let’s toss in Kel’Thuzad cuz I love me some KT.

My first match was another druid doing the Naturalize + murloc mill deck thing. That doesn’t work too well when my deck is double sized because my 10 Prince Malcheeze added all those legendary cards to it. The only problem with the deck is that, even if I innervate out a Prince on turn 1, it’s still too slow to keep up with the fast decks. I ran into a lock running mechwarper + annoy-o-tron + fel cannon and another lock running 1 drops and power overwhelming and just got swarmed. Maybe if I put swipe in that third slot for some AoE …

Oh well. I got my pack, and it had a legendary … too bad I already had Onyxia. She was actually the very first one I ever got. But the dust brought me up to enough to craft a new legendary and … well, I know it would be best to craft something from the classic set that will always be usable in standard, but I see all the fun people are having with Yogg, and the last two cards I crafted were classics, so I decided Ysera would have to wait. I need a Yogg. So I made one. I’ll at least get to have fun with him for a few months before the set is rotated out, right?
