Happy Hallow’s End

October 31, 2014

Whoa, look, two WoW posts in one week!

I did finish up getting my other kitty.

Last night I queued up for UBRS but five minutes into the 20 minute queue I decided I could find something better to do than wait. So I sent Juna to Nagrand.

I looked for Banthar but then decided to look on Petopia first and figure out which skin I wanted. I decided the dark chocolate ones were most to my liking.

That was much easier than stealing a quest mob that people are trying to kill. Yes, with CRZ, there were plenty of people out there questing. I don’t think I will ever like CRZ. Unfortunately, when I looked at the talbuk skins, I decided that Bach’lor was definitely the one I wanted, so … sorry little human paladin who seemed to be also looking for him. I got what I wanted and won’t be back so good luck on your quest.

I went back to the Shrine to deposit some of my pets in the stable, and this other Tauren huntress was standing on the platform with her Bach’lor, so I stood next to her for awhile and got a screenshot.

The other new pet family is hydras, but since I’ve had the ghost hydra Spirit of Atha since back in Wrath when it was briefly tamable, I felt no need to go get another.

Hellscream’s Downfall

October 29, 2014

So .. remember how I quit raiding? I did mention that, right? Part burnout, part desire to do other things on raid nights. Bowling league every other week on a raid night, polka club once a month on another raid night, and my favourite TV show during the last hour of the other raid night each week. Yeah, it means I still have things scheduled, it’s just a lot less time consuming than a 3 hour block, 3 nights a week, every week.

But, this doesn’t mean that I’m against coming in to help out when I’m available and they need me. I might have mentioned being pulled in to kill Mythic Siegecrafter a week or so ago. Well, last night they needed bodies for Mythic Garrosh. I almost went along Monday night but someone else logged on late who hasn’t quit, so I bowed out. But last night they needed me. We *almost* got him in one pull. It didn’t take all night though. Heck, we got him in time for my TV show so I didn’t have to watch it later On Demand.

I never saw an achievement show up, just the heirloom and the bonus roll. It shows up in my achievement pane, but never flashed up on the screen.

WoWScrnShot_102814_215314

At first I was disappointed about getting an heirloom that I already have. But when I thought about it, I realized that nearly half of my max level characters (7/15) are strength-based plate wearers, so actually, that axe is the MOST useful thing I could have gotten.

Yeah, someone chopped him up into a pile of meat.

P.S. Why does Varian look so awesome and my humans look … like …. /cry

Catch Some Z’s

October 28, 2014

Seriously. These Polish names use so many Z’s. Or so many zeds, if you’re in Canadaland.

I can’t even spell this one without looking, and I sure as heck am not going to attempt to pronounce it. Or maybe I will.
Krzysztof Grzymultowski. Ok, despite the, um, whoa, SEVEN consonants in a row, Krzysztof isn’t really so bad .. I think it’s pronounced Krishtoff, more or less. The last name though … I thinkthe rz sounds kind of like sh, or at least it does in Skrzetuski, so if I had to guess I would say it’s something like Gshymultovski. Or thereabouts.

Let’s just call him KG. He was elected to the sejm (parliament) in 1649. He was one of the diplomats who signed a peace treaty with Sweden in 1652 … that same treaty that the Swedes violated 3 years later during the Deluge. In 1656 he was named voivod (warlord) of Poznań. Later on, beyond the years which I have really studied so far, he signed the Eternal Peace Treaty of 1686, sometimes referred to as Grzymultowski’s Treaty. This was between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Tsardom of Russia. It confirmed Russian ownership of left-bank Ukraine and Kiev, and prohibited any treaty with the Ottoman Empire.

Speaking of Pan Jan Skrzetuski, I have gotten a better shot of him.

mb111

Huh, amazing, I managed to get Kmicic in the shot with him again. Skrzetuski, as I have probably mentioned before, is the main hero of Sienkiewicz’s With Fire and Sword. He also appears in the other two books of the trilogy, The Deluge and Pan Michael, but only as a side character. Of course, (SPOILER) he and Halshka are married at the end of With Fire and Sword, and by the time of Pan Michael, they have so many kids that Jan can almost make up his own regiment with them.

Jan Onufry Zagloba is also from the books.

mb112

He is quite a character; balding, fat, half-blind and overly fond of drink. He is jovial and pokes fun at everything and everyone, and loves to embellish his own exploits and take credit for others’ heroic deeds. Yet, despite appearances, he is actually quite cunning and does manage many outstanding things all on his own.

That’s all I’m going to tell you though. If you want to know more about him, or any of this, you should read the books. They are really very good.

Gimme Pets!

October 24, 2014

Yup. All it takes to get me to play again is new pets.

Tuesday night, Madorsa decided she wasn’t getting candies fast enough with dailies and Horseman kills, so she raided candy buckets in Eastern Kingdoms. The end result:

I didn’t bother trying to decide which one to get. I realized that since it had only taken three or four days to get the first one, I could pick up another character and get the other one long before the holiday is over … and possibly without getting too bored. So last night, I decided that Vozzkaz could start on the holiday after she finished her invasion questline. She had killed the last quest dude and was killing one last orc on the way out of the door of Okrill’on, and he dropped this:

Well, that made for a good week! On top of it all, I got a mythic Siegecrafter Blackfuse kill on Tuesday night as well. When I logged over to Van to do his invasion quests, they asked if I could come fill a spot to zerg him because even my craptastic dps would help. Of course, I forgot to get a screenshot but oh well.
