What’s Going On

February 22, 2013

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a rambly thing like this. Then again, it’s been awhile since I’ve felt like I had anything to talk about other than boss kills. It’s not like I haven’t been playing, it’s just not interesting to talk about grinding dailies, or document every single flawless battle stone that I receive. (Actually, that part wouldn’t amount to very many posts … those things just do not drop very often.)

On Drak, I’ve mostly just done dailies with Van, although recently he has ventured into LFR since it’s the only way he’s going to complete his Sigils of Wisdom. Kash drug me along a couple of weeks ago to her Friday night LFR, and I’ve sorta just made plans to leave Friday evenings open for that since we have so much fun together. Dyle made the trip to Pandaria, but he hasn’t gotten very far yet. I should really get him to the Valley so he can start making Imperial Silk … I need that moth!

On Winterhoof, Kerick finally hit the ilevel for LFR with the necklace from the holiday boss, so he’s been running MSV. He’s gotten the helm, several cloaks, and the shield so far. Kaly has been busy leveling and is halfway through level 88. I need to get him to 90 for a screenshot that I have planned, and he also needs to funnel some more ghost iron bars to Kerick so he can finish his blacksmithing.

Most of my non-raid time lately though has been spent on Kargath. (I really need to update the armory links on the sidebar eh?) Madorsa has been leveling steadily. She recently hit 50, and Averry sent her some shiny new glyphs, so now she can play locktank when she wants to. I’ve had so much fun with her there, that I took my baby mage and made a bank guild. (Special super big thanks to Grom, Bocat, and Lyssi for helping me out with charter sigs!) That’s not all though … I also deleted my level 60 DK and transferred Futara over from Firetree. She was renamed Kirgra and has been blasting full speed through the Cata zones. Last night she whirled through part of Uldum, moved on to Twilight Highlands, and ended the night at the Crucible of Carnage with Averry’s assistance. (I am kicking myself this morning for not taking a few screenshots) The weapon will literally only last for a couple of hours until she heads off to Pandaria (she’s at 83% right now) but it was a huge chunk of xp and a lot of fun. Oh yeah, there’s also a baby monk there that you will be hearing more about soon.

So that’s mostly what I’ve been up to. I’ll be out for the next week geeking it up in FL with the SR crew. (Florida, not Firelands!) So, no posts next week, but there will be awesomeness the week after so come back then! 😀

Seeing Red Again

February 18, 2013

So, last night was LBR. I guess people had a lot going on this week, but as long as there is more than one person on, we can always come up with something! So I invited Kamalia and Helke into the group and we discussed where to go. With all of us saying ‘it doesn’t matter to me, whatever you want to do is fine’ I suggested AQ since the original plan was Throne of the Winds and Kam and I were already near there. All of us still needed pets from there, and Helke had a mage to swap to so we could down Viscidus, so off we went.

First pull, a red drops.

Helke and I both had it already, but Kam still needed it. Yay Kam! She has the best mount luck, seriously.

Second pull … another red drops.

Crazy, eh? Unfortunately, the luck didn’t quite transfer over to the pets, although we did get the Anubisath Idol to drop. We also cleared the whole place, including (oh geez I almost typed Anub’arak .. what’s his name again? Oh yeah, C’Thun) the final boss, without a single death. I thought that was pretty impressive. Even though it is old content, there are a good number of things in there that can often lead to losing someone… usually in C’Thun’s stomach where you can’t even mass rez them.

Stupid me forgot to line us up for a screenshot with all our red bugs. Pretend there’s one here, ok?

Next week is Alliance side on Sunday at 8pm EST, but I will not be able to attend. I’m pretty sure Healblade will be, though, and possibly JD, too! So if you have an Alliance character at least level 60 and want to have fun in some old content, come join us! (or them. heh)

Lei Shi

February 14, 2013

As I predicted yesterday, we took a few pulls to get the adds under control, but ultimately prevailed against Lei Shi. We had everyone stack in the center when they came out and our mage Shaadey put down a Circle of Frost. It holds them long enough for the shaman and lock to Bind Elemental/Banish. On the 40% and 20% phases where there are 4 instead of only 3, we fear bombed the extra one. I threw in a Blinding Light to disorient them if we ran into trouble.

She was nice enough to leave a Sigil of Wisdom in the chest. I still need 5 more though. /slacker

Hey a shot with all 10 of us in it! L to R: Adoe, Sorak, Lyssianna, Bocat, Vanicus, jumping Zugzuug, Liyhe, Arvash, Shaadey, and Wok.

You can see the Sha of Fear there in the background. He’s next. He … is not going to be done in a few pulls. He is going to make me cry. Jerk.

So Long Tsulong

February 13, 2013

Not a great shot but oh well. With our full team in place and having studied healing strategies and tips beforehand, we went in prepared to either defeat or save Tsulong. It took a fair number of pulls, but we eventually got it all put together and fine-tuned … enough so that we healed him to full with some time to spare.

I have mixed feeling about these types of fights. On the one hand, it forces me out of my comfort zone and makes me think about how I am using my spells and how I can get more throughput out of them. I tend to lean heavily towards the efficiency side of things … I use the smallest thing that will cover the damage taken, and don’t always heal people up to full if it’s not totally necessary. So for me, pumping out as much healing as possible is outside of my normal pattern. On the other hand … it forces me out of my comfort zone and makes me think about how I am using my spells and how I can get more throughput out of them. It’s never a bad thing to learn more about how your spec works and get new ideas on what/how to use your abilities.

We did several pulls on Lei Shi as well, and got her to 2% on our best attempt. I was the last one alive and just had nothing … didn’t even have the mana to do anything. The adds are the only tricky part. If we lose someone to them, it all goes downhill. We should get it tonight though. 🙂
