Foul Menagerie

September 14, 2012

When I saw this glyph, I had to get it. It turns your Army of the Dead minions into an assorted group of undead rather than just the usual group of ghouls. Roz knew the glyph, but I didn’t have the mats for the ink, which required Outland herbs. Now, there are several options to obtain the necessary ink.

1. buy it off the AH
2. turn my Cata herbs into ink and trade it for the older ink
3. go to Outland and pick the herbs myself

These are listed in order of how much time is spent on doing this. With nothing better going on in game until next week, I chose option 4. Waitwut? There’s no option 4 up there! Option 4 is an extension of option three. You see, I can’t just settle for going to Outland and flying around aimlessly looking for herb nodes. No, I first had to spend three or four hours in Kalimdor leveling Rozzy’s archaeology so he could hit digsites in Outland while picking enough herbs for one little glyph. Yes, this is the way my mind works. I never have claimed to be normal.

Once I finally did make it to Outland, I ran into these …

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE I am gonna have baby clefthoof battle pets zomg I can’t WAIT

ahem

Anyway … this is the final product. Pretty cool huh? 😀

The Rabbit Done Died

September 12, 2012

Saturday I was goofing around taking various alts to Darkmoon Faire for the profession skillups. I’m there on Kroy, repairing broken down tonks, when a line in general chat catches my eye. Looking for more people to kill the Darkmoon Rabbit. Hmmmmmm ……well it’s not like I was doing anything important, so I switched over to Kerick and headed out there.

The group was pretty large, and as it turned out, it needed to be. The rabbit hits like a truck, and then toss in the members of the opposing faction also trying to kill it and/or turn it into pvp, and you will have plenty of deaths going around.

The strategy was to tag it, and all stand in the back of the cave to keep it nearby, because it likes to hop around from person to person. Naturally, it took 10 minutes of mayhem before we got the entire group to comply, but once we were all stacked up it was pretty straightforward.

I’m a noob and just learned how to make the standard unit frames show actual health instead of percentages, so … yeah. I have no idea how much health he had but it had to be a lot. (Yes, I could wowhead that for the answer if I wasn’t lazy.) I don’t know how many HKs I got either, but there were quite a few. I know I cleansed DK diseases off raid members every couple of minutes. I also targeted and threw hammers at any flagged Horde that made it all the way into the cave. Eventually, we prevailed.

So .. what did I roll for the pet? A 2 … go me! Oh well … I wouldn’t have been able to learn it anyway, I have too many pets in my collection and can’t learn more until MoP actually hits and I can cage and sell some of the extras. >.>

Where’s The Dress?

September 10, 2012

Some of you may not be aware, but my good friends over at For The Horde have started blogging again. Most of them are all back in the game for the MoP launch and having fun catching up on what they’ve missed throughout most of Cata. I’ve kept in touch with them all through e-mail since I joined them all on Dawnbringer way back when. So when Pie sent a group e-mail last week about wanting to run an ICC on Saturday night, I excitedly volunteered, and went right over to my SR friends to spread the word.

Come raid time we had Pie on his paladin to tank, Fikkle on his dps warrior, Sy on his hunter, Duke on his mage, and Nim on his priest. Add in me on Van, plus Slice and Lyss on their mains, and you have a pretty kickass group to storm the citadel.

Here’s some action after we moved into the Upper Spire.

I swapped back and forth between dps and healing as needed. That was interesting, considering I hadn’t even touched ret since the patch. I had this big gaping hole in my bar where Holy Wrath used to be. I eventually (like after three bosses >.> ) discovered that I had Hammer of the Righteous to place in the spot, but it doesn’t really help the emptiness in the rotation since it shares a CD with Crusader Strike. I guess it’s for using instead of that for AoE? Makes sense, since Divine Storm now requires Holy Power. *grumble* THAT change I do not like. Hopefully I will get some new ability later on that will smooth out the rotation. Someday I will look up some ret stuff … maybe. :p

Swapping back and forth between specs removes your current aura. So yes, that is why I don’t have one turned on in this screenshot. Wut? I was just doing my best Fayle impersonation .. you know, living down to expectations and whatnot.

Some of the group hadn’t seen all of ICC before. Heck, some may not have ever been there. So it was nice having Lyss there. She gave awesome little pre-fight rundowns on the bosses for us. All in all it went very smoothly. We did have a fun little pile of ice blocks chained together on Sindy … that was pretty amusing but not fatal.

I think we only had one wipe, and that was when we didn’t all get back on the platform on time during a phase transition on Lich King. THAT fight is still long and complicated if you haven’t done it a lot of times. This here was our second wipe …

Of course everyone had been warned ahead of time not to release, so Sy couldn’t resist making jokes about having released and not being able to find his way back. /facepalm

I had a great time that night, and I hope everyone else did too! Thanks again to Lyss and Slice for coming along and helping out. 😀

Ooooops!!

September 7, 2012

I’ve been meaning to get this post up all week. I actually finally found time to write it yesterday … and then I couldn’t find the screenshots. I thought I forgot to send them to myself. Then last night before bed when I went to send them again, I found them. /fayle

I’ve been really enjoying the account-wide pets, mounts, and achievements. Titles on my lowbies? Yes please! Last night I dug the craptastic starter daggers out of the bank and sent Bloodsail Admiral Wega off to level. What? She has pages of mounts that she wants to ride. She made it to 10 … in her lovely black dress. Who needs armor when ambush takes at least half of each mob’s health, sometimes even one-shots them? (With white daggers … it’s a guaranteed one-shot with any heirlooms at all)

Is there anything cuter than a dwarf chick on a Deathcharger?

Yeah, Wega can’t wait to get her hands on that horse.

Poor Karius, it’s been so long since I paid attention to him … longer than I realized! I mean really … look …

Yes, that glowy shield around him is leftover from Children’s Week … told you it had been awhile. I had fun with his glyphs. The little bitty water elemental is from Conjure Familiar, and of course the shapeshift is some other glyph that lets you ‘look like someone else’ for something like 5 minutes. I was expecting it to be like the potion of illusion … obviously it’s not, as you have no choice in what you end up looking like. But it’s super fun!

Several toons went digging this week. I was very VERY excited to find that you now get 6 digs per site rather than only 3. That makes it go much quicker since you are getting twice as much done without having to travel.

Oh, and here is the horse in shadowform.

Ok, I’ve gotta get back to work. Happy Friday!
