in fact, I’m almost embarrassed to post the kill shot. So much dying! But hey … he’s down.
That was Friday night, along with Shannox, Beth, and Baleroc. So we had all of Saturday to start on Alysrazor. We actually made better progress on her than I expected. It’s a very confusing and complicated fight at first, especially if you learn better by seeing it yourself. I can only pick up so much from text and video … it doesn’t really come together until I’ve seen it firsthand. But at least doing the homework means I know what to expect. We started off two healing right off the bat … partly because we’d proven in the other raid that it is doable, partly because we know we will have the same two healers around all the time, and partly because we know we will need the extra dps. Obviously we had an advantage here since one half of the healing team knows the fight and is used to being able to heal and move with a feather. Everyone else picked stuff up pretty well. Now to learn tornadoes! Whee!

Grats! Nice to see that one down! 😀
August 22, 2011 at 9:44 am
I know people were…. teasing us about leaving early but I couldn’t focus any more after 3 hours on that chicken. There is a lot of me to get used to and I may need to change some stuff up in my ui. Just because I CAN cast on the move doesn’t mean I’m good at it, and the “oh crap I can’t cancel that cast” thing bit me in the butt more than once.
What i was really happy about was that as soon as i realized I wasn’t supposed to be healing the raid, and told them so – the raid damage went away. Like, almost entirely. I know the tornados will take some work but I think we’re going to get TO the tornado phase really consistently next week. The “following one tornado, turning and following another” strat seemed to work ok for me.

Grats again guys!
My suggestion for the bird practice is to kill Shannox first then work on the bird. Then go kill Balroc or Beth, then go back and work on the bird.
Focus on working on her with taking breaks to kill bosses you know.
That way you are saved banging your head for 3 hours or more.
August 22, 2011 at 9:56 am
Nah it wasn’t just you … everyone’s focus was gone. And don’t let Sorak bother you, he mocks everyone. Just do what we all do and mock him back. It’s one of our favorite activities. 😉
That sheepish little laugh of his in vent after you asked him if he was mocking you made my night. I laughed sooooo hard.
August 22, 2011 at 9:59 am
Also I think we will start two healing Shannox. It gives us practice and it reminds the raid not to stand in bad.
Rev and I were kind of blown away by how well our Cho’gall and Nef kills went – yes, we have them on farm and they are nerfed but we’d run with a guild group earlier in the week that still had trouble. Having the fight note perfect like that (except for Ado like, dying, what was with that, scrub?) was very encouraging that we can and will learn a fight as complicated as Alysrazor.
August 22, 2011 at 10:15 am
The fight is complicated and annoying at 1st, no denying that. That being said, I think very good progress was made. Just some refinement and she should go down fast.
As Lyssi pointed out….3 straight or more hrs on it is not fun. I recommend killing 1 or 2 bosses to get the blood flowing and morale up and then head into wall to head banging.
And I agree as a healer getting used to healing on the move can be rough, also for 2 healing to work, rest of raid has to avoid dmg. All the dmg is avoidable.
August 22, 2011 at 10:16 am
I think I died due to an over aggro on Cho’gall. I was riding threat pretty hard, with the threat changes I’m even worse about using FD, and drunk bear moved the boss into melee range and there went my 15% threat buffer. Dead hunter.
August 22, 2011 at 10:18 am
Sounds like I owe Rev 10g
August 22, 2011 at 10:26 am
Bear lost aggro on boss and tried to grab it back- he was kind of amazed how fast you got aggro though. Ah well that’s what a battle rez is there for.
August 22, 2011 at 10:53 am
That was partly due to me tricking addoe. Your welcome for that 10% extra damage and all my threat or 6 seconds!
And like fatty said… when I mock, feel free to mock back!
August 22, 2011 at 10:58 am
Why did you make the choice to keep slice alive over Gurgie?
August 22, 2011 at 11:01 am
Well, I was healing Gurgie, but then Ado died ….
August 22, 2011 at 11:03 am
Mock you Sorak? Why should I, when thanks to you I realized that we can pull that same trick EVERY WEEK and kill just Cho’gall and Nef with no others, at least unless Approximate or Jhudora go run something else?
August 22, 2011 at 11:06 am
Hahahahah! And the neck Sorak wants is on Val and T. ROFLMAO. Better save up your VP’s, dude!
August 22, 2011 at 11:08 am
Bleh damn mobile KB. You’re. Welcome too addoe!
Btw you’re. All witness there shall be no mocking of Sorak in C&G raids!
August 22, 2011 at 11:09 am
LOL!!! I love it Ana!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
August 22, 2011 at 11:10 am
I actually considered fixing your typos since I knew you were posting from your phone.
Nice try. You cannot escape teh mocking!
August 22, 2011 at 11:10 am
There shall be no killing of slice in C&G raids.
August 22, 2011 at 11:11 am
Kill em!
August 22, 2011 at 11:13 am
The CDs for FD and ToT < the CDs for Ice Block and Invis. good luck
August 22, 2011 at 11:31 am
I think Slice needs to be killed in a C& G raid…he killed me and I’m his mage friend and give him mage crack all the time. And that’s the thanks I get? What the heck?!?!?
August 22, 2011 at 11:35 am
Wow Slice, you’re mean!
August 22, 2011 at 11:36 am
Is this like the SR T11 run where you tried to kill someone but killed 2 other people instead and the person you were trying to kill didn’t even notice and was like “you were trying to kill me?”
August 22, 2011 at 12:15 pm
I don’t think the C&G raid can take all this killing people who aren’t Log. We’re likely to accidentally have to have Kerick and Reversion solo kills, or something.
OH but Log is out this weekend so I think we need a poll to decide who is the replacement Log this weekend. Slice, Sorak, or Ado….
August 22, 2011 at 12:27 pm
Rev did a good job of taking that spot last time Log was out. 😉
August 22, 2011 at 12:27 pm
Ado!
August 22, 2011 at 12:29 pm
I vote slice, I know fala will back me up!
August 22, 2011 at 12:31 pm
You guys are aware that the rogue must _always_ die right?
My vote is for Sorak
August 22, 2011 at 12:32 pm
You know Sorak pays me to keep him alive, right?
August 22, 2011 at 12:33 pm
I’m sure we can work out a better deal for you
August 22, 2011 at 12:35 pm
Ok- top vote is for Slice- I mean hey- Paybacks- what can I say!
Of course, my second vote would be for Ado : )
August 22, 2011 at 12:43 pm
I like how we are picking on people with good aggro-dump cooldowns. It makes things a challenge.
But if we keep killing Slice I might feel bad and try to convince Falahla to give him the first pair of boots.
August 22, 2011 at 1:10 pm
lol. I haz iceblock and invis! BRING IT!
But I thought magefriend was kerick from that distance….I misttook her for Kerick…..Kerick….stop stealing Falahla’s dresses!
August 22, 2011 at 1:12 pm
Wait … you call Kerick fatty, and then pretend you thought Falahla was him? Not gonna fly, bud … not gonna fly.
August 22, 2011 at 1:34 pm
Curses foiled again…I blame traumatic horde disorder….alll those Alliance players….and I haz a means to destroy then….yeah….
August 22, 2011 at 1:58 pm
I find it odd that my wife selects me as the second person to kill… Note to self, change will and life insurance policy.
August 22, 2011 at 3:19 pm
Slice = evil!
I was still focused, I have the first part down now, and just wanted a few more tries at the tornados, but I go where my raid leads tell me to go. I’ll get more practice this week I’m sure. And besides, it was nice just to get the valor. So all in all, it was a fun night.
August 22, 2011 at 3:23 pm
Ok, who’s gonna make margaritas for Grom next week so he can lose focus too? Wheeeeeeee! ^.^
Drunk bear was pretty amusing, really … for one night at least. 🙂
August 22, 2011 at 3:49 pm
Grrrr! I have to go judge a testing friday night. So you’ll just have to get silly without me 😦
August 23, 2011 at 7:51 am
I found and interesting blog post over at GreedyGoblin about resistance and how much a resistance elixer reduces damage taken. By Glotan’s math the use of the elixer reduces magic damage taken from 24%, with totem or pally resist, to 32%. Thats a big jump on a fight with high magic damage and 2 heals. I also agree with his statment that there is prolly no fight in firelands where a tank is better off flasking for stam than running a 225 mastery and a resist elixer. ( With the possible exception of a low stam tank on Baleroc and even that is qestionable with the change that Decimation Blade can’t be the first special attack.)
August 23, 2011 at 7:53 am
Waitwut? When did they change that? Man, that is awesome.
August 23, 2011 at 8:36 am
Interesting.
I never flask for Stam though. Just agility which gives dodge, crit (which procs my mastery) and attack power.
Might have to try that elixer trick. It would get expensive though since they dont presist through death and you would need two per pull.
August 23, 2011 at 8:58 am
I’m not even sure who you killed in that screenshot? You talk about bird, so I assumed Alyz, but then Analogue says in guild chat Ryolith down. What is this? I don’t even…
August 23, 2011 at 9:39 am
When Rhyolith loses his armor he turns into a giant molten lava flow monster.
That is Rhyolith
August 24, 2011 at 9:58 am
Ahhh, so that yellow/orange blob is actually something. I was mostly just blinded looking at the picture. Raiding has to be hard on the eyes…I swear it.
August 26, 2011 at 9:52 am
I’m late to this party, but grats!
