A Thank You Letter

Dear Euripedes,

I was going to email you, but I decided to post this instead. You see, when I first started reading WoW blogs, Critical QQ was among the first dozen or so that I encountered. I did not have a mage. To be quite honest, I had no desire to play a mage. Squishy little  cloth wearers turning mobs into sheep and providing water for the party? Ha! Not a chance. But your posts had me coming back for more, checking each day for something new. I read back through old posts, checked out almost everything on the critical page, listened to your appearance on the Twisted Nether blogcast (more than once even .. what can I say, you make me laugh) … and finally, I broke down and did the unthinkable. I created my own mage.

“It’s just a little experiment,” I told myself. “Just for fun, something to do on my day off when no one’s on to run instances with. It’ll be abandoned long before he even gets out of the Barrens, just like most of my other alts.”

Today, my little mage Rozjin is two months old. I didn’t achieve my goal of getting to 80 within that time frame, but he is 72 (and a half) and setting Northrend on fire. Leveling him has easily been the most fun I have had in this game. I followed your guide, Leveling Fire, and loved every minute of it.  My friends have jokingly called him my main, and they aren’t too far from the truth. He probably will be my main as soon as he hits the level cap and gets geared enough to take my hunter’s spot in raids.

I was going to have this entire post be all serious and stuff, but after your little April Fools title yesterday….well, if this next part embarrasses you, too bad. That’s what you get for scaring the crap out of me.

Yes everyone, my spirit beast was intentionally named Euripedes after the author of Critical QQ. Lurking under that gorgeous hide is the spirit of a troll mage. Seriously, his special attack Spirit Strike does arcane damage, right? Didn’t you ever wonder why? Well, now you know.
