Turtle Soup

A couple of small changes, and we got Tortos worked out. No, those changes did not include the Special Tricks used by the holy pally in Leit’s raid. They were more along the lines of having the melee spread out for the falling crap and having someone other than Adoe kick the turtles so he could concentrate solely on burning them down.

You may notice that I am missing a food buff in that shot. Yeah, I managed to die halfway through the fight. It was almost like Zarm was anticipating it, though, because I swear the brez hit my screen before my body hit the floor. We recovered, obviously … although a later bubble saved me from a second death. You can see I still have the debuff from it.

We did pulls on Megeara and it went pretty well. We were getting to the sixth head and then losing a tank, usually when a healer had Cinders and had to move. Once we get that worked out and refine the cooldown rotation, she should go down too.

Killing Trolls

Finally. The Council of Elders is defeated. This one took almost as many pulls as Horridon. We just couldn’t find a strat that would work for us. Then yesterday, Leit posted about his group downing them and the strat that they used. Stack ‘em up, burn ‘em down. That sounded like the kind of strat we excel at, so I linked the post to Slice and Adoe and we made plans to try it.

Raid time approaches, however, and there are issues. Adoe’s computer was misbehaving and Sorak and Wok were not online. Sorak was just running late, but Wok wasn’t going to make it. Adoe commandeered Shadeey’s computer, but of course, that left us without her. Ok, no problem, we have backups. Zug goes tank and we bring in Bocat and our shiny new rogue Psynite. It’s almost working, but we’re lacking just a bit more dps.

How do you get even moar brute force out of a brute force tactic?

We don’t need two tanks. Zug, cleave all of teh things plz.

But wait, doesn’t the tank get stunned for 15s repeatedly throughout the fight? Meh. You have CDs bitch, use them.

And, since Arv is Batman ….

Yes, it actually worked with him solo tanking it.

Horridown

Finally! It only took about 90 pulls. This stupid fight had me half-convinced that it was time to stop raiding. But we made it through.

Arvash has a nice writeup with more detail about the fight. Yes, we three healed it. I’m pretty sure there’s no way we could have done it otherwise. There are so many debuffs that need to be cleansed, and of course having the extra raid cooldowns also helps a lot.

It might be a bad sign when I’m more excited about the pet than the boss kill …

Oh yeah, and that was another server first, also! So we get to keep our position as the top guild on the server. lol.

The Tranquil Master

Chalk up another server first for SR as we went in last night and cleanly put down the Sha of Fear (lol) on our second attempt.
