Celestial Family

January 20, 2014

There. Finally finished getting the last of the celestial pets.

WoWScrnShot_011914_151945

I never did recreate a set of teams for the group of tamers that had Wrathion in it. I never had enough humanoids left after beating him to also beat Yu’la, so I have always skipped the tourney on the weeks that his group of tamers is up.

I spent a good part of the weekend mining ore so I could gem and enchant my DPS set, crappy though it may be. There are some fights where we need one of the healers to DPS, and of course none of us really wants to or is good at it. So I’m going to give it a try. I’ve studied the stat priorities, the best use of talents, and the ‘rotation’ (although of course it’s a priority system rather than a strict rotation, which is pretty standard these days). Tonight we have the full raid time just on Garrosh, so hopefully we’ll get him.

In other news, I finished the RAF pair I was working on. Oranis is back to bank alting for now, mostly naked with his heirlooms stripped off and sent to the new lock. The guild hit level 5, partly due to the help of Trout’s belf priest Bartok, who hit 90 over the weekend. So the new group is an undead rogue named Alestav for the main account, and a lock to power through the quests because locks are OP. They are already up to level 38.

One last shot here, to show why I love both Kargath and my new computer. I never saw numbers anywhere near as good as these on any other server (for the lat) or on my old computer (for the fps).

LFR Pays Off

If you could only read one post on this site to get a clear idea of what type of player I am, this one probably gives the most accurate picture. I mean, I could talk about how Horridon dropped the Dinomancer’s Spiritbinding Spire that I had my eye on. Instead, I give you this …

I mean sure, I said something like ‘cool it dropped’ to my friend when I got the staff. But the pet? That got a ‘YES’ and a link. And a toon swap to my bank alt so he could go battle some little thing in the city and see it in action. Because we all know what’s most important, right?

SO. CUTE.

I finally did it! It only took three weeks …

WoWScrnShot_092613_225429

And yes, I know that Zao has the least interesting moveset out of the mini celestials but I’m the type of person who picks the cutest pet first, especially since I know I can eventually earn them all. It was late when I finished, but I couldn’t just log out, I had to run around the island with him for awhile. He’s just too darn adorable.

It wasn’t until I had beaten the three champions and no achievement popped up for defeating all nine of them that I realized the tracking for the achievement is per character. Van has killed everyone but Mari, but I logged on late last night and just took the character that was already parked on the Isle. Oops. Oh well, maybe that group will be up again next week.

The last time I got as far as the celestials, I got stuck on Xu-Fu … mostly because I had no mechs left by the time I got there. This time I managed to beat Zao without using my Clockwork Gnome, so I had at least one left. Ok, let’s go consult Tamer Liopleurodon’s guide. If you haven’t been to her blog, you are missing out. So much awesome pet info! Anyway, based on her strategy, I dug through my available pet list and came up with a pair of Wild Hatchlings to toss in with my Gnome, one Gold and one Jade. Both of these come with Call Lightning. Whichever one I started with, I had it cast call lightning. I was hoping to dodge Feed at the right time with Liftoff, but missed on the first dragon so he did get one cast of it off. When that one died I put in the Gnome and set up a turret. Then I went ahead and swapped him back out, because my lightning was about to fall off and I also didn’t want him to die before his turret was off cooldown again. Fortunately, one of Xu-Fu’s big attacks missed so that kind of balanced out the Feed that hit. I was so excited when my Gnome finished him off that I totally forgot to get a screenshot.

Those of you still trying, don’t give up! I don’t have a lot of the ‘necessary’ pets leveled .. no Anubisath, no Water Spirit, no Crow or Raven, no Chrominius, no Darkmoon Zeppelin or Mechanical Dragonling (although my Zep is getting close) … persistence WILL pay off eventually.

See, I *told* you I hadn’t quit WoW. I mean, really, logging in 2 or 3 times a day for 1 minute at a time to check Qiraji spawns counts as playing, right? >.>

I wasn’t taking any chances on this one; I brought along Shirl the Terrible Turnip. She’s only level 14, but the Guardling was level 17, so it worked out. Unfortunately, it took 4 misses before the trap held, and Shirl took one for the team and went down after that last miss. I think I cried a little as my Nexus Whelpling finished off the rare Sidewinder though. Just my luck there would be a rare that I need with it, eh?

WoWScrnShot_062413_194012

I was in such a hurry to get to Neverwinter that I logged out without taking a screenshot of the pet afterwards, so I logged back in to get one.

WoWScrnShot_062413_194855

I also checked her breed while I was at it. P/B, nice! Poor quality, but Wega is still hanging onto that non-family stone so it won’t matter.

I’m glad I got this done now, though. This virtual realms thing coming in the next patch? Yeah … some of us *like* being on low-pop servers, ya know? They’re gonna screw it all up even more than CRZ did. *sigh*
