Where’s My Stone?

April 2, 2013

Well hello there, Gentle San. I’d like to turn in my Beasts of Fable quest, please.

3 Battle Pet Bandages and a Rusty Pet Cage? Is this some kind of joke? Perhaps some Tungsten will make this cage better.

WoWScrnShot_032913_180830

Oh much better. But it needs a new coat of paint. Magenta, perhaps?

WoWScrnShot_032913_180840

Well now, that Seamus to be a big improvement. I trust that you will not let this happen again? Good.

(Note: No battle pets were actually harmed in the making of this post. They respawned a few minutes later.)

The Star of My Team

March 27, 2013

So … I’ve been doing the Fabled Pets daily … pretty much daily. I think I missed the first couple of days when I realized I’d have to kill the whole circuit each day, but once I got teams made up to deal with them and got a route firmly set, it’s not so bad. I ran it last night after raid with no stops for anything else (other than picking up an Ancient Jinyu Staff out of the Slicky Steam near the caterpillar) and it took about 35 minutes.

In making the teams, it seemed like, since we’re only fighting a single opponent, the best strategy is to just load up on a trio of pets who are strong against its type. This gives us three teams since there are three types of pets to face. I gave them appropriate, if unimaginative, names: Aquatic Killers, Beast Killers, and Critter Killers. One pet ended up on all three teams.

The Dragonbone Hatchling.

I put him as the anchor on each team, figuring there will be some battles where the third pet doesn’t even get called in, and then if I am fighting a different kind of pet for the next battle, I won’t have to heal in between since he didn’t take damage. This lets me use fewer bandages.

His placement on the aquatic team goes without saying. Flying pets are strong against aquatics. This is the team that it makes the most sense for him to be on.

(Um, yeah, sorry about the fuzzy screen there. I’d just fished up some Darkmoon Special Reserve over at Stormstout Brewery.)

But what about the other teams? Why would I use a flying pet on them?

Well, beasts are weak against flying pets, and I don’t have 3 mechanicals leveled. Most of the time, the Clockwork Gnome and Pet Bombling get the job done on their own. Gorespine, though, tends to put them down with the bleed, so my little buddy often comes in for cleanup on him.

WoWScrnShot_032613_235817

For critters, I change out his first ability, replacing Slicing Wind with Thrash, which of course is a beast ability and is strong against critters. Nitun is a pain, but thrash can put him under quickly. As a bonus, Nitun’s abilites are .. beast abilities! So they are all weak against the flyer.

(Averry, don’t worry about Mortimer, he’s … resting, yeah … he ate too much and needed a nap. He’ll be fine.)

To get your own Dragonbone Hatchling, just head to Dragonblight. They can be found in large numbers on the plains surrounding Wyrmrest Temple. Other pets that share the same abilities include the birds from the parrot family, the mini jousters from Hyjal, or the Fledgling Buzzard from Redridge.

Now all he needs is a name, it seems silly to have him be so important to my teams and not have one. Any suggestions?

(Yes, I am showing off Kirgra’s almost-done transmog at the same time here) :p

Oh yeah, as for the results of all these dailies … I have gotten either a battlestone, a pet, or sometimes even both, almost every day. I think there have only been 3 days when I didn’t get either one. I have gotten 4 Snowy Pandas, 3 Sunfur Pandas, and probably 8 stones. I didn’t keep track and I should have. Oops.

Scepter of Azj’Aqir

Yay, Darkmoon Faire time! Roz went to the Faire, got a rare Crow, and did his profession quests. But he didn’t have 15 fossil fragments. Off to dig! Hmmm … not a single fossil site on his map. But look, he has two spots in Uldum, let’s go there.

Naturally, I can’t just dig. I combine it with pet battling/leveling.

WoWScrnShot_010713_002247

In the space of an hour, he got two flawless battlestones … a beast, and a critter. For the beast I have only a couple of choices that I’d like to use it on. I am leaning towards the Feline Familiar. For the critter one, however … zomg choices! Perky Pug maybe, just because I want to see him wipe his butt on the battlefield.

Anyway, once he dug the two spots in Uldum, a fossil site spawned in Tanaris so I hopped over there to complete his quest. While there, I went through his book and completed the projects he had enough other fragments for, and after a couple of small things in his Tol’vir file something new popped up. I had to go wowhead it real quick to be sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Whoa mon, dis be a mount!

With no dig sites left in Uldum, I had to either dig more in Kalimdor, or … well, let’s go to Pandaria, he’s almost maxed on skill and he can turn in these projects for Tol’vir parts. So I hearthed to the Jade Forest and hit up a dig site. That plus the projects I could complete got me to 600. Now … how to get to the Vale at level 86. Hmm … I rode to the Tavern, picking up flight points along the way. As I was trying to figure out how to get on top of the hills and slow fall into the Vale (I’ve heard it can be done) Arv logged on. It didn’t take much begging to get him to come pick me up. Of course, I was prepared for the inevitable attempt to kill me … Arv managed to hit the wrong button to save himself though. haha. Seems like this has happened before hasn’t it? ;)

WoWScrnShot_010613_200857

THEN Mishi wouldn’t fly me up to the Lorewalkers room, so Arv was nice enough to drop me off up there. Got all my artifacts converted and was just over halfway to completion. Nice! But now … I had the flight path so I could get to the Vale, but wouldn’t be able to get up to the ledge again. So digging in Pandaria was kinda out. Ok, well, there’s a bunch of sites up in Mount Hyjal, guess I’ll have to spawn an Uldum site. More digging, more pet battling, and finally one popped up.

WoWScrnShot_010713_003233

By this time it was like 12:30am so of course there was no one on to share with. But hey, it’s done! Roz be lookin good, mon.

WoWScrnShot_010713_003334

Now I just need a Crawling Claw and … yes, sad as it is, I am *still* searching for Tyrande’s bloody doll. /rage

They DO Exist!

December 13, 2012

So I got a Flawless Mechanical Battlestone in one of my pet bags last night. Yay!
I think I might use it on my Pet Bombling, since I’d already gotten him to level 20 before the patch, not realizing that he wasn’t actually rare.
I already have a rare Anodized Robo-Cub and Robo-Chick from Winterspring, which are level 17 or 18, so he’ll be right there with them for a full mech team if I need one.

I also have a Flawless Humanoid Battlestone that dropped off a Kun-Lai Runt when Van was screwing around up there before raid time a week or two ago.
This one is a tougher decision, because I don’t have anything leveled up that’s not already rare.
I could use it on a limited spawn, like my Flayer Youngling or Sporeling Sprout … things that I could still get rares from by taking the time to camp them.
Or I could use it on something that isn’t wild caught, like the Oracle or Wolvar hatchlings from Children’s Week … things will never be rare unless I use a stone.

These decisions would be easier if the stones weren’t so flipping rare! Although, they’re not as rare as that dang Minfernal. *sigh*
