Tracking Complete

April 10, 2014

So, Juna has gotten all of the trackable hunter pets in Pandaria. She got super lucky with Hexapos and, um … what’s the basilisk’s name? Rockhide? Yeah. Both of them she found pretty much right away the first time she went looking. Bloodtooth and Bombyx in Krasarang were very easy to find as well. She spent the most time in the Jade Forest. Between the large phased area that Glimmer paths through, and the way Savage’s prints blend in with the forest floor, these were easily the two most difficult ones to track.

Now, based on what I had read, both at the Wowhead guide and at WoW Rare Spawns, it seemed like Patrannache would be the hardest one to find. And it is true that his tracks are really hard to see. But on about my fourth visit to the Valley, I spotted them. I tracked him through the swampy area east of the Heartland, but lost the trail just north of Halfhill. Fortunately, thanks to the many screenshots Euphyley has posted, I knew that his trail would take him directly under Darkhide. So, being a lazy sort anyway, I parked my behind near the big mushan and just kept a flare under him until the bird appeared.

Now for her next project. Let’s see … she has just over 100 Halaa battle tokens. She can go grind Oshu’gun Crystal Powder and get one of the two Halaa talbuks. She also needs to finish grinding Wolvar rep to get Sholazar Mercenary.

Also, Arelin’s transfer is complete. He has joined the rest of my crew on the Norgannon side, bringing Wega’s old bank guild with him. So now I have all of my professions together.

Happy Druid

March 24, 2014

Ok, last week I mentioned how much fun I was having leveling my balance druid through Pandaria. Several of you expressed disbelief, and Bocat basically said ‘SS or it didn’t happen.’ So Hunahuna is here to show you just how much fun it is.

Um, catching up on gossip in Halfhill doesn’t count, Hunie. Any character can do that. Heck, that’s what some of these commentators have relegated their druids to doing. We want to show them some action!

Yes, working your farm is action, but that’s not quite what I meant. I understand that you’re a druid and feel the need to play in the dirt there, but that isn’t what this post is about! Please help me out here.

Aha! Now we’re getting somewhere. Here’s some single target action on a named quest mob.

And here we have the glory that is hurricane/astral storm.

Yes, dear, that’s a lovely placement. No, it doesn’t make you a tank.

Curious, though, as to how much she can handle, I pulled four of those Saurok in the cave in the (crap what is that little zone called where the Tavern is?) zone between the Valley and Kun-Lai. These aren’t little low-health mobs like the ones she AOE’d in the above screenshots, but regular, full-health mobs equal to her level. No problem. She mowed them down. Dot, dot, starfall, ooh an instant starsurge proc …yeah I threw in a barkskin and a rejuv but really, she had no problem. Out of all the casters I’ve played with (not counting the warlock who has a pet for that) she *is* the tankiest of all of them.

Oh, and one other thing … I am beginning to understand the druids I’ve seen who bounce around. My other lady tauren, Junahu, is as flat-footed as they come. Of course, she grew up with her pet holding all of teh things while she stood still and shot them. Huna though? Yeah … she bounced circles around the Varian sha during the quest at the Temple of the White Tiger. She might be having TOO much fun. She even flirted with Anduin.

I’ll be totally honest here, out of the 5 characters that I RaF boosted to 85, the balance druid was the last one I would have bet on being the first to the Shrine. But here she is! A couple of the others have made 86, but she is at least a full half-level ahead.

Sha of Anger, meet Huna the Happy Druid. She’ll be coming for you soon!

8 Down, 3 to go

March 17, 2014

Alright, got my 8th class to max this weekend. I had transferred Adryen over at level 87. Dumb? Perhaps, I mean, monks are easy enough to level and he had no professions. Or rather, he has two gathering professions that he didn’t pick up until he reached Pandaria, so … yeah. But I like him. And I get attached to my characters. So … here he is!

I sent him as many Timeless Isle pieces as I could. Or at least, as many as I had in Oranis’ bank. Hmmmm …. remind me to check Wega’s bank for stuff I stored on that server.
So far, I like the look of the leather gear. I’m curious now to see how it will look on Huna! She made it almost to 87 over the weekend. Balance is teh fun.

Ok, that leaves druid, rogue and shaman …. go!

Who to Boost?

March 10, 2014

Well, decision time is nigh. The pre-orders for WoD, including the level 90 character boost, have arrived. True, you don’t have to use that boost right away. You can hang onto it as long as you wish. I thought I had my mind made up, but then I got to thinking … you get fully leveled professions if you boost a character that’s already above level 60. That could really come in handy. I already have Tailoring x2, Enchanting x2, JC, Alch, and Mining maxed on Kargath/Norgannon. That leaves me with plenty of professions still to go. My recent foray into RaF has left me with every class at 85 or above. RaF boosted characters include a rogue, a shaman, and two druids .. the three classes (besides monk, which I have at 89) that I haven’t gotten to max level yet. They are pretty much not a consideration. I NEED those five levels to, um, learn how to play them … >.> Plus it seems silly to boost a character only 5 levels. If I had any stuck in Outland … well, let’s look at what I DO have.

Faranell, level 1 undead mage
Averry joked that he was surprised I didn’t have an Edwin anywhere, so in response, I created one! I considered RaFing him, but decided to leave him alone and give him the free boost. The only real argument against it is, well, I already have a mage at 90 and another one at 85. And that’s not even counting the Alliance one who is 86!

That’s really the only one I was considering boosting under 60. So how about some 60+?

Rathanos, level 85 BE prot paladin
I wanted a separate pally to learn prot on. So I did some dungeons from level 15 to maybe level 30. Then I quested. Then I RaF boosted him from 55 to 85. So … yeah. I still don’t know what I’m doing other than throwing my shield, bashing hammer of the righteous, and uh … wait, maybe that’s shield of the righteous? See?!? I have no clue. Argument for = he’s my wannabe scribe. Argument against = it’s dumb to boost a character only 5 levels, and I can always transfer my fully leveled scribe over from Drak when I have a few extra bucks.

Giska, level 75 orc monk
Proud member of the DPS crew over at The Warchief’s Command Board. Also my future leatherworker. It’s taking forever to level her because I am keeping up on her crafting as I go. But really, other than not having to finish the leatherworking, I can’t think of a good reason to boost her. She’s got heirlooms, she’s got the monk xp bonus, she’s got 15 levels to go.

Oslen, level 40 undead hunter
Obviously, I would level him to 60+ first. He’s my engineer. I don’t have another hunter besides the original character Junahu. However, I DO have a fully leveled engineer … wasting away on Drak. Boost Oslen or transfer Arelin? There’s no Arelin listed on Norgannon, so he would get to keep his name. Hmmmm … *checks bank account*

I think that covers all of the professions on K/N. Kirgra is slowly leveling her BS, and is already 90, so that one is off the table.

Naeladi, level 77 tauren warrior
Still on Drak, and a possible candidate because of her BS. But … she would have to be boosted AND transferred, because she’s on that PvP cesspool.

What about Alliance?

K … wait, what the heck is her name again? Oh yeah. Kriann, level 68 dwarf ele shaman
Well … she’s my scribe there. I still don’t have a shaman at 90, although I RaF boosted one to 85. I play her so much I forgot her name. Yeah. Still … level/prof wise, she’s a decent candidate.

Kroy, level 58 human rogue
He’d only need a couple of levels. He’s an engineer, BUT … so is Ragle. So he’s redundant for professions. I don’t have a rogue at 90, but again, I RaF boosted one to 85.

So, uh … what do you think? One of the above, or someone else entirely!

P.S. I am NOT paying $60 to boost a second character. This is a one-time, free-with-the-xpac deal for me.
