Oh Look …

June 27, 2014

Friday again! Um … Thok can DIAF. I can see how this is a raid-breaker on heroic. I’m not even *in* for all of the attempts, and I’m sick of him. But … we’ll get him sooner or later. Oh … remind me to study Blackfuse before Monday! I think we’re going to try that one for a change of pace.

Outside of raid time I haven’t done much. I did a bit of preparation on my warlock for challenge modes. I think I have convinced a few guildies to help me at least get silvers for the mount. Since Kash has already healed them and wants to do it, I’m more than fine with bringing the lock for damage cookies and other utility benefits. And she doesn’t even have set bonuses or a legendary meta gem or a legendary cloak – the things that don’t work in there – so she’s not losing anything by fixing up gear for it.

I’ve also checked out Steam since everyone’s blogs are talking about the summer sale. I picked up things I’ve heard other people talk about that are basically old news, but that I haven’t played myself … like Mass Effect 2 and Borderlands 2. So I’ll have new things to play if my super slow DSL ever finishes downloading them.

That’s about it for now. Maybe next week I’ll have more to post about. :)

It Goes To 11

Well, that’s it. Finally there. All eleven classes at max level.

There were so many lockboxes in my guild bank that I couldn’t take it anymore, so over the last couple of evenings I took Al out questing. As always, he had a grand time with his Glyph of Disguise. He turned into mantid …

and also into saurok. Apparently the disguise didn’t fool Kovok, though. Perhaps it was the smell … I’m sure Forsaken and saurok both smell bad, but not the same kind of bad.

The first thing I did was buy flying for him because, well, if I do anything at all other than open lockboxes, he’s going to want to fly. He nearly made back as much as he spent when he opened all of those boxes, though. Then I had Oranis dig out some Timeless gear to send him. Hmm … that helm looked awesome on a femtaur druid but on him? yeah … no. Might have to spend some of his lockbox gold on transmog.

Side topic … the Azeroth Choppers bikes are done! What did you all think? I loved the shine and polish of the Alliance bike … but those tank treads. I’m sorry, but tank treads are not Alliance. I totally would have voted for that bike if it had wheels with some shiny silver spokes. They could have done some aluminum and bronze to compliment the awesome metalwork on the rest of the bike and I would have blown the dust off my Alliance just to ride it. Oh well. Now, a trike with tank treads on the back and an oversized front tire SCREAMS Horde. I’m fond of trikes anyway so … yeah. It’s not pretty but then, it’s not supposed to be. It is, however, badass. Van can’t wait to get his hands on it.

Up To No Good

May 28, 2014

So, I’ve won with a warlock deck the past couple of days in Hearthstone. I don’t play any of the so-called zoo decks or what have you. I just toss some demons and other stuff in. I got Twisting Nether in a pack recently and have had a lot of fun erasing the board with it.

Anyhow, since I won with the lock deck, I took Madorsa out to play. However, since she’s already done all of the LFRs at least once, and I had been in LFR over the weekend with Paddey, I decided to find something else for her to do … namely, collect enchanting recipes that she is missing. Some of this involves buying recipes from vendors using mats as the currency. So of course, I needed more Heavenly Shards and figured the best way to get some would be dungeons.

So Madorsa went to Stonecore and did what any warlock with any sense would do … killed almost everyone and took over the place.

Some of it also involves bind on pickup recipes dropped by bosses. Kael’thas in Magisters’ Terrace drops like three different ones. So of course, she headed there as well. And on her first ever run of Terrace, she got the Orb of the Sin’dorei. She was pretty disgusted with me for actually making her use it, though.

So yeah, I’m having a lot of fun on my non-raid days just dinking around on all my alts.

Little Games

May 16, 2014

So, end of expansion, no new content for awhile. How do you keep yourself entertained? I know some people have lists of goals they want to accomplish before WoD comes out. Others log in, can’t decide what to do, and log out again. I’m somewhere in between those two. I have things I want to get done, but I have 14 90s and several other alts still being leveled. So how do I decide what to work on when I’m not raiding? Easy. I create little games for myself that determine which alt to dust off for the day. Let me tell you how it works.

I start in Hearthstone. I only play a couple of games there each day, basically until I win a game or have to log over to raid. If I still have a quest for the class I won with the day before, I’ll keep that class and deck. If not, I’ll choose a class that I do have a quest for, build a suggest-a-card deck, and go. Yes, this means I rarely play the same deck twice and am not likely to ever rise much above my current ranking. But I enjoy the randomness of playing whatever I put together with this method. If I lose, I go back to my quest list and pick another class, build another deck, etc. Whatever class I win with, is the class I play in WoW for that day.

‘But Rep!,’ you say, ‘there are only 9 classes in Hearthstone! What about your DKs and monks?’ Well, if I win with the same class two days in a row, then I play one of those. Simple, right?

Sunday I won with a hunter deck. So I brought out Juna to play. I haven’t devised a method to determine which alt of that class I play, I just let myself pick. If I win on hunter again soon, maybe I will play the other one instead of her. But Sunday I chose her, so she copied Vozzkaz and queued up for some LFR. In six wings, she got a trinket, two rings, ToT pants, and her sha-touched gun.

Last night I won with a priest deck. Priest decks are SO much fun. Anyway, this one was easy to choose because I only have one priest on each faction right now, no multiples. And, uh … I dunno, I just haven’t ‘felt’ Alliance this expansion at all. I did Operation: Shieldwall and some of the Thunder Isle stuff but …Jaina or Lor’themar … yeah. So I hopped on Paddey Dyle. And … queued up for some LFR! LOL. He’d done LFR in the past, clearing ToT multiple times and the first two wings of SoO once. But he’d never done anything from the first tier. So I started at the beginning, just for the achievements. Although, I think this Light of the Cosmos is probably a super trinket for him, even with a lower ilevel than some others he has.

In between queues, I worked on picking up tailoring recipes that he doesn’t have. I recently installed Ackis Recipe List. I’ve known about this addon for a long time but resisted the urge to download because I know me. If there is an easy way to see that I am missing recipes then I MUST go get them. This may still prove to have been a bad idea. Do you know how many Cata gem recipes Van doesn’t have? AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I ended the night with a late-night first wing of SoO with Averry, Ruekie, and … I believe Shen. Averry can yell at me if I’m wrong.

So, am I just really weird, or do other players have silly little rules and games too?
