Friday night we started off at Magmaw. We had a couple of subs in, as one tank and one healer had real life obligations. Having only the one raid group to worry about getting saved to meant I was free to bring in Kerick to cover the missing heals. We had a new hunter who was able to come in and provide frost traps/kiting on the parasites. That helped so much. I think it took up about 90 mins and we were done and wondering where to go next. Since we didn’t have a third tank available for Halfus and had already spent time in previous weeks learning the Council of Wind, we headed over to Uldum.
Our hunter switched over to his prot warrior, and I was assigned to heal him on the green platform. I had only ever been on the mage for previous attempts, so it was a learning experience for me. I’m not sure I quite ever got the hang of it completely. We had some good attempts and learned a lot, and ended the night quite satisfied. After all, we’d gotten our first boss down in this group!
Saturday night we had some switching around. We had a different warrior tank, so the hunter got to stay on his hunter. Our regular healer was available, so I got to go back to the mage. After healing on the other platform the night before, dodging tornadoes and wind blasts was a breeze. (heh heh heh) I think it was once again about 90 minutes. I was impressed that we did it so fast, what with breaking in yet another new backup and all.
Of course, this left us with more time to fill, but this time we had an extra tank available once we sweet-talked the hunter into switching again. So we went and worked on Halfus for awhile. One of these weeks, we’ll get an ‘easy’ set of drakes. We did have a decent try where we got to the enrage though. Our enhance shaman has become an expert at interrupting the shadow nova.
Next week’s lineup is sure to change again, as Ado has speed-leveled his shadow priest from 60 to 85 in a little over a week, and we drug him on his first heroic last night already. Crazy man!

That screenshot tells me why I was so surprised when we killed the boss – what kind of “dead boss animation” is that, anyway?

Also any hints on that fight? I was thinking about trying them out, but the coordination and comp needed is making me not want to try it out and just attempt to finish out Blackwing.

Not yet. We saw no reason to start cold on a fight we hadn’t even read about, when there were others that we already know the strats for and have spent time working on.
Analogue or Reversion would be better to ask about hints. They’re the ‘experts’ on strats and comps. I just do what they tell me. :p

I just saw the right up over there. Looks complicated, will have to sit down and break it down when i have more time at home or work!
Omni is not too bad imo!

@ Slice. It is actually nice super hard since you only have to care about two platforms worth of info. And each role only has to know a few of those ‘tips’ I posted. I think I covered everything we figured out that was not covered in videos.

It was so surpising to most people when they went down I think I was the only one that cheered at all. I might have been the only one with my eyes glued to the health bars (it helped that my bars were showeding all threat bosses). The ranged DPS actually ran over to the green platform to help there not knowing he was already dead too.

I was watching them.
The funniest was the Time Warp/Heroism. Our ranged guy went down first, so we went to the ice platform. If you look closely at my screenshot, you can see that I popped Time Warp once we got there. The melee and hunter from the green platform arrived maybe 10 seconds later after they had downed their guy, and then Cyla popped Heroism. SO, in the screenshot, part of the raid has the time warp debuff, and the rest of them have the heroism debuff. lol

Wait, so, the melee platform got theirs that soon after the ranged? I had thought they were finishing at like the same time… wow…. I was so out of it, since I was on the middle platform at kill time.
Grumbles something about healers never seeing fights.

It had to be pretty close. There’s actually still time left on my Time Warp up there, and everyone is on the ice platform before the final boss goes down. (We all have the stacking ice debuff) The screenshot was within a second or two of him going down.

When i heard that the ranged group had theirs, and saw how close ours was, I was pretty confident that we had it. But when ours dropped, I was facing the bridge, so when his health bar hit 0, I just put my head down, ran to the bridge, popped everything I had, and tore into the last boss. Saw nothing but rotation and cooldown timers. I think I was still trying to cast after he went down.

Rep watch out for the storm coming! Lots of fun ice and snow!
February 1, 2011 at 9:16 am
We won’t get ice here. 10-18″ of snow is the latest I’ve heard. meh. It’s Buffalo … I won’t even get a snow day for something that minor.

yeah we got less then an inch of ice – nothing worth sneezing at lol
